The Dirt Sheet: Allies Turned Enemies

They were once the Greatest Tag Team of the 21st Century. They have held both the WWE and World Tag Team Championship belts; and have won 2 Slammies. They are The Miz and John Morrison.

Friday Night SmackDown was the return of The Dirt Sheet, once a success on wwe.com before the duo split up, now back for one night only. Presented first was the United States Champion, The Miz, followed by the Intercontinental Champion, John Morrison. The ring was divided up by the color of their brand - SmackDown/Blue and RAW/Red.

In one week's time, these two champions will meet in the ring to determine who was the better of that team. This feud is deeper than a scheduled match, it has been brewing since their days as tag team champions. Both were once contending for the ECW title, but instead joined forces. Reality is, Morrison was already a decorative tag team champion in his days with MNM and a former IC and ECW Champion. It was The Miz who hadn't amounted to anything, until Morrison saved him. John Morrison jump started The Miz's career and made him a better wrestler. And how did The Miz repay Morrison? As soon as it was announced that The Miz was being drafted to RAW - he hit Morrison with The Reality Check as his way of severing ties with his partner. Thus Miz remained a heel and Morrison became a face.

Then again, The Miz has been humiliated by John Cena, banned from RAW, and lost in a series of matches for the US Title. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that he finally won the long awaited United States title.

Morrison, on the other hand, has defeated, then-World Champion, CM Punk in numerous non-title matches; contended against, then-World Champion, Jeff Hardy for the title; and won the Intercontinental Title against Rey Mysterio in possibly the best match in recent SmackDown history.

Bottom line, Morrison has had a higher success rate than The Miz; hence, why Morrison went off the way he did when Miz went on about how he carried the team and how he's awesome. In Morrison's words, RAW is a cheap version of SNL but SmackDown is a place of wrestling and the only place where you will see the Friday Night Delight. In other words, SmackDown is not a place of talk, its a place of action.

I commend John Morrison for his amazing promo that really hyped up the crowd. Morrison is coming closer and closer to becoming the top face of SmackDown. However, WWE is more concerned with Batista, Rey, and Undertaker to give Morrison a chance right now. You cannot deny that he is the real deal sex appeal and future World Champion.

So come Bragging Rights, who will have the right to call himself the Shawn Michaels, and who will be the Jannetty?
