Glorious Decade of SmackDown; Undertaker's Message to CM Punk

It's been ten years.... TEN YEARS! SmackDown has been on the air. Sometimes aired on Thursday Nights, but most times aired on Friday Nights... but it was always called SmackDown!

SmackDown also featured a new theme song, "Let it Roll" by Divide The Day. I know a lot of people were scrambling around to figure out the new awesome theme of SmackDown, which is 100% better than the last song. Cause how can you have Papa Roach for RAW, Saliva and Brent Smith for ECW, and Adelita's Way for Superstars... and not have some ROCK HARD theme for SmackDown?

Now, SmackDown started the night with a Decade of Smackdown party backstage. With all the superstars from SmackDown and ECW having fun - with some current RAW guests because they got their start on SmackDown. People my also wonder, why is ECW people there? Well... it's because ECW and Smackdown roster travel together and record the shows every tuesday night.

At the party we got to see a "drunk-out-of-his-mind" Michael Cole, which should be how he commentates from now on cause he's a crazy drunk! Hornswoggle pouring out the drinks and getting a little Diva action by spanking the 2008 Playboy Model, Maria!

We also got to see some old faces - The Iron Shiek and Sgt. Slaughter, to see a rivalry still brooding, and the former SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero; except she was not alone. She was with her new arm candy, Eric Escobar, a developmental wrestler from FCW, who she will manage on SmackDown.

The Decade of SmackDown featured four matches: Batista defeats Kane, which is the best I've seen Batista wrestle in a long time. Batista was a major power house SmackDown superstar in the day. And come this Sunday he will team up with Rey Mysterio once again for a shot at the Unified Tag Team Championships. *SmackDown Moment 2005, Mysterio and Batista teamed up to face MnM for the WWE Tag Team Titles and won. Will history repeat itself this sunday at Hell in a Cell?

The next match was The Intercontinental Champion John Morrison teaming up with The United States Champion Kofi Kingston to take on their opponents for this Sunday: Dolph Ziggler and The Miz. Kofi's second opponent, Jack Swagger, was with the SmackDown commentary team. And after weeks of Morrison making fun of Ziggler (Mr. Ziggles), Dolph had the last laugh as he connected with the Zig Zag (reverse bulldog). Will this Sunday indeed see a new Intercontinental Champion? And how will Kofi fare as he defends the United States Championship against The Miz and Jack Swagger?

The third match was for the Women's Title contested in LumberJack rules. The Divas from all the brands surrounded the ring as Melina, the challenger, took on the Champion, Michelle McCool. Melina seemed to have the upper hand by having more allies outside of the ring then did McCool, but it's not quanity but quality that Melina should have worried about. McCool may not have many friends, but when you have "The Glamazon" Beth Phoenix helping you out, that's the only friend you need. McCool retains the Championship - it would've been nice to see Melina become the new Women's Champion for the 4th time on the Decade of SmackDown.

And the Main Event... D-Generation X, WWE Champion John Cena, and The Undertaker vs. Legacy and World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. People were probably scratching their heads, why is the Decade of SmackDown Main Event mostly RAW superstars? Well, first off, Triple H helped create the star power in the early years of SmackDown, John Cena started his career on SmackDown and, *SmackDown Moment 2005, introduced the current WWE Title. But the main reason why WWE chose the 8 of them to compete, is because each one of these Superstars will not only have a match at this Sunday's pay-per-view, but their matches will be Hell in a Cell Matches. In the end it was a battle between the #1 Contenders for the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles: Randy Orton and The Undertaker. But with Orton nowhere to run after DX and Cena disposed of Punk and the other 2 members of Legacy - Orton was laid to Rest in Peace with a hellacious Tombstone.

And I would not be a good blogger if I did not mention the awesome promo Taker had for his opponent this Sunday: "... And the pills, the drugs, and the alcohol that you so despise, you soon will crave... you soon will need... Welcome to Hell's Playground, Welcome to Satan's Structure, Welcome to Hell in a Cell!"
