Chris Jericho to Announce Tag Team Partner

For those of you who don’t know already, Edge suffered a torn Achilles tendon at a house show while trying to leap frog onto Jeff. This injury probably culminated from the hellacious ladder match against the same opponent at Extreme Rules.

He recently had surgery but will be unable to compete until sometime next year. This has caused quite a dilemma of what should be done with the Unified Tag Team Titles?

WWE’s creative team were thinking of doing whatever it took to get the belts on Legacy and edit out the Colon’s squabble. However, they ended up airing the breakup between the brothers anyway.

Indeed, like I mentioned in a pervious article, some things are meant to repeat. And just like last year, one tag team member has promised to have a new partner for the night.

Jericho appeared once again in the ring in his expensive suit, disrespecting the fans with his SAT vocabulary, and revealing a clause in his contract, which states he can get a new partner as a precaution, seeing as Edge was frail to begin with.

Sure there was a clause in the contract that he predicted would happen…

Well, Jericho did return as some sort of Messiah – to save us all, he may have attained some foresight, right? He cut a great promo, and when he states that he is the best in the world at what he does – it’s no joke. Jericho knows how to sell the crowd, and his ring awareness for the safety of his opponents is unprecedented. He built Edge up as a Greek warrior by comparing him to Achilles, both being mighty warriors until their heels, their Achilles tendons, proved to be their downfall.

Together, Edge and Jericho were the best that the business had to offer. But now Jericho is alone and has promised a partner that is smart, cunning, and deserving of being in the same ring as him. Edge and Jericho seemed like a tag team made in wrestling heaven, but their egos as top superstars would’ve split them apart sooner or later.

It would have been nice to see Rated-Y2J with combined entrance themes and finishers – but has anyone seen the selection of tag teams? There’s not much: Cryme Tyme, Legacy, and Hart Dynasty. They just broke up the Colons; split up Jesse and Festus, The Miz and John Morrison, CM Punk and Kofi Kingston, Finlay and Hornswoggle, Goldust and Hornswoggle; released Shannon Moore, Deuce and Domino, Big Daddy V; Shawn Michaels is on hiatus; and Mike Knox has not been seen in months. To have this year’s greatest duo to face off against three teams is an insult. It’s no wonder that they unified the tag team titles.

They should be utilizing either ECW or WWE Superstars to form new tag teams – bring life back to the division. As the future announcement of his new partner goes, there’s no one better than Dolph Ziggler, since they used his assistance last Friday night to beat up Rey Mysterio. Ziggler has been on a winning streak – pinning The Great Khali, R-Truth, and John Morrison. He possesses the ring smarts and the cunning to capitalize on opportunities. And if Dolph Ziggler happens to also contend for the Intercontinental title, with Jericho’s assistance – we could be looking at Ziggler and Jericho leaving Night of Champions having both the Unified Tag Team and IC Titles. They would be one step closer to dominating the WWE - Jericho only needs to capture the World Heavyweight Title.

This collection of belts was a dream of mine for Rayed-Y2J, but things change.

And just to remind us again of why he is the best, Jericho stated it was fitting that he alone holds the Unified Tag Team Titles since he single handedly defeated the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night to become the Undisputed World Champion.

As Night of Champions draws near, we shall see Jericho make the decision that I know he will make; because, in the words of Jericho, I am the best in the world at what I do!
