Thoughts on Edge's Smackdown Interview

Discretion is often the better part of valor.

The above saying is often said during times of cowardice, or times of stupidity. When a heel escapes from a match he knows he couldn't win, or when a face continues to fight a losing battle - this saying is said. However, this past Friday Night - we were treated to an interview with "The Rated-R Superstar" and his future plans.

We learn that the Achilles Tendon is a career ending injury - especially for Edge's line of work. We also learn that Edge has contemplated whether or not to return again.

He's had an amazing career - capturing every title in the business and being a part of the most legendary matches that have shaped and defined the business today. The pro-wrestling business almost had to say goodbye to the guaranteed Hall of Famer, until Jericho came onto the scene. He accused Edge of politicing and sneaking opportunities every chance he got to earn his titles - and that he, Chris Jericho, earned every title on his own merit. Jericho also mentioned that what's more impressive than Edge's title reigns - is his list of injuries. Edge realizes that he is not a saint - but if he comes back, well... WHEN he comes back, he will prove everyone wrong.

Two things could have been meant by this interview:

Chris Jericho either wanted to spark the fire inside of Edge to have the strength to get back in the ring; or this is an opportunity for the WWE to turn Edge face on his return next year as part of a conversion story line.
