Mickie James Saving Women's Wrestling

ECW commentator Josh Matthews interviewed #1 contender for the Divas Title, Mickie James. Now, how often are the women seriously interviewed? That’s right, never!

Mickie has dominated the Diva’s Champion in recent weeks, but when asked whether she was intimidated after her loss last week to Maryse, she responded – Well congratulations to Maryse in beating me in a “Summer Swimsuit Spectacular,” this Sunday is Night of Champions, not TRAMP-ions. – Emphasis on the finger quotes.

Mickie took offense for the assumption because a bikini match is one step above mud wrestling. Women’s wrestling has been reduced to tag team, Lumber Jill, Bra and Panties, and pillow matches.

Unlike the thriving Knock Outs of TNA, the WWE pays little to no attention to the credibility of women’s wrestling. While the men are being suspended for drug use, the women are fired for bloating. That certainly is not the case in TNA, if you see ODB or Awesome Kong – weight is NOT an issue with them.

A few months ago, the WWE Universe said goodbye to Victoria because she was retiring from wrestling. About 2 or so weeks ago she became the TNA Knock Out Champion. I guess she meant that she was retiring from being a Diva.

As the women’s movement carried on – The Miz interjected by saying that Mickie was jealous and could not compare in looks to Maryse. Mickie, not afraid to take an insult, fired right back, “Are you still sour because I’ve scored a pin-fall off Maryse, while you just can’t score at all?” The response was both sensual and an attack on Miz’s status as the Chick Magnet.

However, it wasn’t long until Maryse made a fashionable statement of her own – by spraying hair spray into Mickie’s eyes. But come this Sunday, will Maryse find a way to outsmart the four-time Women’s Champion, or will Mickie continue to prove herself as a serious women’s wrestler?

Mickie really needs to win have a REAL womans wrestler as the champ, Maryse is good but Mickie is great.
