WWE Superstars Results: 3/11/10 - Superstars to Push

Dolph Ziggler vs. Shelton Benjamin

In the second encounter between Dolph Ziggler and Shelton Benjamin, Ziggler's sleeper hold rendered Shelton Benjamin unconscious. After a failed Zig zag appeared to forshadow another loss, Ziggler lached on the devastating sleeper and body scissors to drag Benjamin to the canvas. Matt Striker has always stated that Ziggler has executed the sleeper to perfection, now Ziggler can back it up.

How to build Dolph Ziggler?: If Dolph Ziggler is suppose to resemble Curt Henning, should he not talk more? When he first started out, you couldn't get Ziggler to shut his cake hole, but recently, Ziggler has become the silent jobber. It is not too big of a deal for Ziggler to have failed in his Intercontinental Title hunt, but he still has to remain relevent to TV. If he doesn't have a feud, then find someone. Polish off those mic skills, create viginettes, and improve on the mat work.

Mike Knox vs. Goldust

Goldust, after signing with SmackDown after the demise of ECW, has become exclusive to WWE Superstars. After a loss to Chris Jericho last week, Goldust pulled an impressive victory over Mike Knox with The Final Cut. What is more impressive is that the veteran is getting the push rather than the young guy.

How to build Mike Knox?: Obviously, Mike Knox has become the new Snitsky, but why should he? Aside from his impressive beard, Mike Knox is a magnificant giant who can throw his 300-pound frame in devestating cross bodies. If Mike Knox should lose a match, let it be from doling out so much pain and punishment that he fails to adhear to the referee's 5-count. Otherwise, what is the point?

Santino Marella vs. Zack Ryder

Santino Marella, sporting a clean shaven face, finally struck his Cobra maneuver. However, thanks to the distraction by Rosa Mendes, Zack Ryder managed to connect with the Rough Ryder followed immediately by the Zack Attack. Michael Cole and King doing a bad job remembering Ryder's moves, but no need to fear, because I still remember them.

How to build Santino Marella?: Despite his two I-C reigns and attempting to break the record for longest reign, Santino Marella is merely an entertainer. During the match, there was a sense of an underline tension between Santino and Zack. Marella did not look at all happy contesting against the Long Islander. There is also the possibility that Santino is tired of jobbing to just about everyone, especially with the ease that Santino executes those Steamboat arm drags, and cheerleader splits to evade lariats. Underneath that thick accent of Santino lies a warrior, and it is time that the WWE Universe gets to witness that. Allow him to become the Milan Miracle once again.

Chavo Guerrero and Carlito w/Michael Tarver vs. MVP and Christian w/Heath Slater

In one of the better main events to come across WWE Superstars in a long time, former ECW Champion, Christian teamed with former US Champion, MVP to take on former ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero and former US Champion, Carlito. This was the tag team of the former champions, but notice how neither is a former World Champion. Yet, that can all change at WrestleMania because Christian and MVP are in the Money in the Bank Ladder match, where the winner will get a guarenteed World Title shot at any point in time, up to one year.

Both teams were impressive, especially the powerhouse of Christian and MVP, who are clear fan favorites. Eventhough MVP is one of the odds on favorites to win this year's MitB, Christian's seniority trumped MVP in this match, as he locked in the Killswitch against Chavo Guerrero.

How to build Chavo and Carlito?: The two have paired up more than once on WWE Superstars, mainly as a formality of random tag team matches. But WWE may not be aware of what they are doing? The pairing of Chavo and Carlito is exactly the dynamic Spanish duo that the WWE fans crave since the passing of Eddie Guerrero. Chavo's Mexican heritage, along with Carlito's Puerto Rican heritage, can provide some great comical insight to the diverse Spanish culture.

A more serious Kofi
Kofi Kingston vs. Chavo Guerrero

Surprisingly not making an appearance on RAW, Kofi Kingston wrestled on WWE Superstars against Chavo Guerrero. Always a treat to see a basic mat wrestling match. Chavo Guerrero, who is highly underrated, brought Kofi Kingston back to a more solid wrestling based match, rather than the crazy high-flying ones that he is use to. Kofi, originally with a Jamaican gimmick, has shed the yellow and green trunks for red and black. Signs of a more serious competitor, as well as signs of unrelenting after missing the first Trouble in Paradise kick, immediately followed up with a second for the win.

With the WrestleMania season upon us, there is one spot remaining in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. Who better than Kofi Kingston to fill the spot? Kofi wowed the fans last year, especially when trying to climb up an unopened ladder to reach for the briefcase. And with his push lately, it wouldn't be farfetched to see Kofi as Mr. Money in the Bank.

Third-straight win for Evan Bourne
Evan Bourne vs. William Regal

As we have seen on NXT, William Regal is none too happy about mentoring Skip Sheffield, known as the Cornfed Meathead. With an Archie Bunker catchphrase as part of his nickname, Skip likes to smile. Yet, William Regal's week would get even worse when facing the highflying Evan Bourne. William Regal is a man of prestige and class, and to be stepping into the ring with an acrobatic buffoon is a disgrace.

Evan Bourne, in his third straight week, picks up the win. With a flying headscissors takedown, and numerous knee strikes, Bourne was able to ground Regal long enough to connect with Air Bourne. With wins over Chavo Guerrero, Cody Rhodes, and now William Regal, Evan Bourne is finally getting a steady push within the midcard division, after jobbing for over a year.

Speaking of an open spot on the MitB Ladder match, Evan Bourne's high flying would be great for the WrestleMania highlight reels.

Kane vs. Knox IV
Kane vs. Mike Knox

Another Mike Knox and Kane match is a pointless confrontation. Mike Knox, impressive only in size and beard length, cannot win a match if his career depended on it. This was an exhibition match for Kane, not like he needs it, to build momentum heading into WrestleMania. But if WWE actually wanted to build momentum for Kane, this should have been a ladder match. As the record stands, Kane is 4-0 against Mike Knox.

Chris Jericho is the Golden Opportunist
Chris Jericho vs. Goldust

Despite getting speared for six weeks, Chris Jericho is indeed the World Heavyweight Champion. When Edge was injured, everyone thought that Chris Jericho would drop the titles to Legacy, but he did what no one else could. He revived the career of the Big Show, and together they successfully held the titles for half a year. And when no one believed The Undertaker could lose the title inside the Elimination Chamber, Chris Jericho set out what he said he would do and became The World Heavyweight Champion for a sixth time. And on March 28th, in front of the sold out stadium for WrestleMania, Chris Jericho will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Edge.

While Edge contents against the top stars in the industry, Chris Jericho fights Goldust? Not to take anything away from the Bazaar one, but Goldust, signed to SmackDown, will not make it far in the WWE. He'll possibly remain a few months to job to various superstars, but in the end he will leave. Goldust's best shot of being relevant was ECW. But the demise of the brand spelled the demise for Goldust, as his tag team partner, Yoshi Tatsu, was signed over to RAW. Goldust's character belongs in the Attitude Era, his gimmick is lost in 2010.

In the match, Chris Jericho, in tribute to the late-great Eddie Guerrero, laid across the turnbuckle as if on a hammock. The threat of Goldust may not have been something to snooze about, but a Walls of Jericho had Goldust tapping out immediately. If Jericho keeps this up, he'll either be limber, or not battle-tested like Edge, heading into WrestleMania.

Evan Bourne: The Silent Highlight Reel

The veterans Chavo Guerrero and Carlito teamed up against the rookies Evan Bourne and Primo.

Throughout the match, the animosity between the two brothers were eminent, with each trying to get the upper hand on the other. Primo attempted to connect with a missal drop kick from off the top rope but was knocked down by Carlito without the referee's knowledge. Primo would certainly then inflict some much needed punishment with an array of kicks and Carlito's finisher The Backstabber.

Chavo Guerrero, who executed an impressive match, has been underutilized in the WWE for years. In this match, Chavo grounded Evan Bourne with a double wrist-clutch, followed by repeated knee stomps to the chest. As far as I can recall, I have never seen Chavo perform this move. But one person who has utilized this maneuver throughout his career is "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, or as he will be referred to by his NXT name, Daniel Bryan. Chavo has wrestled against Daniel in dark matches on RAW, so perhaps he has learned a thing or two from the young rookie. Chavo, especially with the Gory Bomb, has never looked more alive in the WWE ring.

There are very few instances when Michael Cole says something worthwhile, but his nickname for Evan Bourne may be on those lists of rarities; "The Highlight Reel" Evan Bourne. I know what you are possibly thinking, wasn't Jeff Hardy considered that, especially when appearing on every highlight reel involving ladders?

Evan Bourne needs a new gimmick if he wishes to survive the WWE, and if he were to take the initiative to wow the audience members, or be charismatic enough to call out his maneuvers, then he would have an interesting gimmick. Jeff Hardy was so successful with the fans because he had no problem accepting high risk-no reward type matches, and would proclaim to the WWE Universe of his dare-devil goals. Evan Bourne would really benefit by improving on his mic skills and hyping up the crowds. Because as of right now, Evan Bourne is a silent highlight reel, he needs to add some high-octane explosions to get the crowd going. And after pinning Chavo Guerrero with a Shooting Star Press, his future could sky rocket, if he just heeds my advice.

Gail Kim and Katie Lea: Solid Match-up

Usually when the RAW Divas hit the ring, I hit the fast forward button; but this match up between Gail Kim and Katie Lea proved of some interest to me.

Gail Kim, obviously a hell of a competitor, has been a cry for concern to the wrestling fans who watched Gail establish herself as a corner stone of the TNA Knockout division. During her first stint in the WWE, Gail Kim feuded with the likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, Jazz, Ivory, and Molly Holly, during a time when women's wrestling meant something. TNA was another feather in her cap, as she elevated even higher to make women's wrestling more enjoyable to watch than TNA's X-Division. But her recent move to the WWE in March of 2009 has not payed off, as she has been forced to compete in tag team matches and is always overlooked in a title match. Even the instant of Mickie James-Gail Kim title match turned into a flop, as Gail botched a maneuver, and Mickie further made matters worse by etching her dislike on her long face.

More recently, Gail Kim, the finalist competing for the vacant Divas' Title this Sunday, has been building momentum these past couple of weeks by defeating WWE's underutilized female wrestlers in Jillian Hall and Katie Lea.

Her match with Katie Lea proved to be a concrete physical match in which these two women avoided the pretty handstands or awkward grapple holds. Katie Lea showing the WWE Universe that she is more than a valet to her "brother" Paul, threw Gail shoulder first into the ring post. She then went to work by Irish-whipping Gail Kim shoulder-first into the turnbuckle, and following up with a side slam backbreaker. Katie Lea was able to avoid Gail's first finisher, but "Ate Defeat" with a second inverted stomp facebreaker.

Maryse, the other finalist for the vacant Divas' Title, hasn't wrestled in quite some time. But she has demonstrated to have respect for her opponent, and wishes to deliver an honest match at this Sunday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. The question is, will Maryse become a 2-time Divas' title holder, or will Gail Kim become the third woman to capture both WWE's women's titles?

Rey Mysterio: Illogical Victory

Rey Mysterio has always been the underdog in the WWE, but what if his credibility as a wrestler is becoming a little too hard to conceive? No doubt, Rey Mysterio reached the pinnacle of his Cinderella story at WrestleMania 22, when he captured the World Heavyweight Title in a Triple Threat Match, by pinning a young Randy Orton. Obviously now, Randy Orton has evolved into a super heel and a mulit-time World Champion, so Mysterio pinning Orton would no longer be considered normal, it'd be an upset.

Lately, Mysterio has forfeited his Intercontinental rematch clause, and has set his sights on the World's Title. He defeated Batista in a Cage Match for the right to challenge Undertaker at the Royal Rumble, and almost defeated the Deadman. Mysterio's credibility in those matches were solid, because Mysterio didn't have to pin Batista, only escape a cage; and as for Taker, Mysterio provided consistent offense and attacked the weak spots but he still lost.

Mysterio starts to lose credibility when he supposedly can overpower a 300-pound-plus giant in Mike Knox. Mike Knox of course has an impressive record of the most losses in the WWE, along with the longest beard, but he should not have lost to Mysterio. I understand that Mysterio has the star power, but if you get struck with a 300-pound cross body, logically you should not be able to kick out.

Last week on SmackDown, Mysterio was able to weasel a victory out of C.M. Punk by countering the GTS, but he received ample punishment from the Straightedge Society. That is the true story behind the mask, no one feels that he should have won the World Title four years ago, nor do they feel that he has a shot at defeating The Undertaker. The point of a match against Mike Knox is to showcase Mysterio's resiliency to punishment, and what he offers to the Elimination Chamber. This Sunday, Rey Mysterio doesn't necessarily have to pin Taker to capture the World Title, he just has to eliminate the last man - with the hope that the last man is not The Undertaker.

Not even the fans believe in The Truth

R-Truth interrupted Chris Jericho, who stated that he would go on and win the Royal Rumble. Truth, who pinned Jericho last week in their tag team match, not only insulted Jericho, but proclaimed that he would win the Rumble. Usually fans are behind fan favorites, but even the fans couldn't see Truth headlining WrestleMania. And Truth has to stop talking with a southern accent, no one can take him seriously as a competitor. He spends more time skipping and jumping rather than winning hard fought matches. I understand whole heartily that the WWE is catering to a family audience, but what happened to hard fought intense matches? What happened to superstars and gimmicks that we could scream our heads off. Where are the future Kurt Angles, the Chris Jerichos, the Shawn Michaels, the Eddie Guerreros, the Chris Benoits, the Stone Cold Steve Austins, the Rocks... what happened to real star power being seriously made in the WWE? Just because it's a family show, doesn't mean that the spirit of true compeition must die with these animated gimmicks.

You Can Look, But You Can't Tell Them Apart

The last time the Bellas were in a match was in a losing effort to Maryse in the Divas' Tournament. However, this time, the Bellas stepped up their game and executed a higher quality match against Jillian Hall and Katie Lea. The Bellas went from drop kicks, to forearms, to twin related combination moves, the bottom line, the Twins were red hot. Much like Kelly-Kelly last week, when she defeated Jillian Hall, the Twins have improved and they looked good doing so.

Chris Masters Lost in a Sea of Spanish People

Chris Masters, a.k.a. Pecks Masters, contested this week in a Triple-Threat Match to determine a entry spot at the Royal Rumble against Chavo Guerrero and Primo Colon. Masters appeared with his Spanish girlfriend, Eve Torres, and was the favorite to win the match. I never pay much mind to these below average mid-card matches, but the aggressiveness of Chavo Guerrero showed promise of a good fight. At one point, Chavo launched from the top turnbuckle and frog splashed Masters and Primo on the outside. And later, Chavo side-stepped out of an oncoming Primo, who went head first through the ropes and into Masters who was still on the outside. Chavo vowed to make a name for himself and to be taken more seriously, well this match gets him just a bit closer in doing so. If Chavo were to raise the intensity of his matches, then I can see him going on to win a mid-level title in the near future, but as for now, he passed out from the Master-Lock, granting Masters an entry spot at the Royal Rumble.

Matt Hardy's Key of Destiny Stolen by Jeff

Last week on SmackDown, Matt Hardy pinned D.H. Smith in a tag team match, turned handicap as his partner Khali was of no use. This week on Superstars, Matt Hardy would go one-on-one with the son of the British Bulldog, David Hart Smith. In Matt's corner was Khali and Runjin, and in Smith's corner was Tyson Kidd and Natalya. Has Matt Hardy fallen so far down in his WWE career that he's tag teaming with Khali? Matt recently went through surgery for his burst intestinal wall because he refused to take time off during a big push in his mediocre career. He went back to back capturing the United States Title and then switching to the ECW Title and reigning as the face of the Tuesday C-brand. He later started a feud with his brother, costing him the WWE title, for a reason. Matt has not, and probably never will, captured a World Title. Etched on the pants of Matt Hardy is an emblem of a key that is suppose to unlock his destiny, but Jeff stole that key long ago. Jeff Hardy, despite his drug addictions and tardiness, has done something that his brother will most likely never accomplish - superstardom. While word has it that Jeff has jumped flagships and will start wrestling on TNA with his friend Shannon Moore, Matt Hardy cannot even manage to build any momentum for himself, as the only Hardy left in the WWE, to grasp the brass ring that has always alluded him. Instead of being in the title picture, Matt Hardy is here on Superstars getting pinned by D.H. Smith.

WWE Superstars Results: 12/24/09

A Monstrous Beginning. The ECW Match featured Vladimir Kozlov against Ezekiel Jackson. Two weeks ago, Ezekiel picked up the win over his Roundtable partner with the assist of William Regal. Except this time, William Regal was no where to be seen. So would the WWE Universe get to witness a full out brawl? The only wrestling maneuver administered in this match was an over the shoulder slam by Kozlov; the rest of the bout was an exchange of kicks and punches. It's understandable seeing as these two are impressive in size and mass that people would like to seem them wrestle; but that's the problem, Kozlov and Jackson don't wrestle, they just fight. The action spilled over to the outside of the ring, resulting in both men being counted out. Kozlov shouted to his partner that he won, but the score still remains Jackson 1-0. What Kozlov do is become a leader and form his own faction against Regal's "Ruthless Roundtable." It can be a Nation of Domination - D-Generation X war recreated on ECW.

Spanish Culture Clash. The RAW match featured Chavo Guerrero against Primo Colon. Chavo Guerrero, the nephew of the late Eddie Guerrero, has had a tough year with all the celebrity guest hosts and humiliations from losing to Hornswoggle week after week. He vows that 2010 will be different and that he would begin by defeating Primo. The match was exactly as anyone would have guessed, a luchadore styled match, which a lot of flips and fancy footwork. Chavo attempted The Three Amigos but came up short with only executing two, followed by a small package roll up by Primo. Chavo countered and managed to position Primo for the Frog Splash, thus making good on his promise with a win to end 2009.

Rematch set for the New Year. Drew McIntyre is exceeding expectations as the company's future champion by taking his first step by becoming the Intercontinental champion. McIntyre came out in a nice suit and newly polished title belt once again proclaiming that he has been personally chosen by Mr. McMahon. Dues are given to a man who has been undefeated since coming to the WWE, however John Morrison looks to grant the 'Chosen One' his first loss on New Year's Day as he cashes in on his rematch for the intercontinental title. So far, this feud looks more prominent than any other current championship rivalry.

A Big Red 3-0. Certainly not as impressive as Undertaker's 17-0 streak at WrestleMania, but Kane is 3-0 against Mike Knox. All three matches seem to end the same with a chokeslam, but Knox consistency in the ring seems to suggest that he is not in it for the victories. Almost as if Knox is studying and absorbing the blows as a testament to his craft as a kenesiologist. Mike Knox believes that he has a lot in common with Kane because both like to inflict punishment; and if he were to ever incapacitate Kane in the ring, he would ride with him to the hospital. How much longer must these two fight so as to see these studies result in a different outcome? If Knox wants to win he will have to rely on his swiftness and utilize his nearly 300lb mass by executing more crossbodys.

Three Survivor Series Team Elimination Matches Revealed; Streak Broken; Undertaker Scheduled for Next Week

Native English Boxer, Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton hosted RAW in Sheffield, England. Question, didn't WWE already have a boxer as a host? Speaking of Mayweather, Jeri-Show interrupted and Big Show was willing to be the bigger man, quite literally, and allow Hatton the first punch across the jaw. Jericho ceased the exhibition to refrain from another WrestleMania XXIV incident, and to redirect Show's focus to the Triple Threat Match where Jericho assures his 6th title reign.

Let's break it down: Chris Jericho is the best he has ever been. He rejuvenated his career when he turned heel, becoming a multi-time World Heavyweight Champion and beating his own Intercontinental record to 9 reigns. He even jump started Big Show's career by allowing him to become the other half of the Unified Tag Team Champions.

Downside: Jericho has never been in the ring with The Undertaker, until this Friday.

Break it even more: Big Show is in the best shape of his life and is a force to be reckoned with. Jericho calls him the colossal killer, because the force and magnitude... Can anyone last recall when he was pinned? Probably not.

Hatton scheduled a tag team match between Jeri-Show and DX.

First Match: Alicia Fox w/Jillian vs. Kelly Kelly w/Gail Kim. I was actually rooting for Kelly Kelly, the lesser of two evils. These two are so bad, why has WWE gone for far down in quality? Alicia Fox went for the scissors' kick to the back of the head and got Kelly's back instead... I'll say it again, Alicia is horrendous in the ring.

Next week: Melina vs. Alicia Fox (Divas' Title Match)

At the Survivor Series: Mickie James captains the team of Melina, Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, and Eve. Michelle McCool captains the opposing team of Beth Phoenix, Jillian, Layla, and Alicia Fox.

Second Match: Sheamus vs. Local. Last week, Sheamus almost killed Jaime Noble, who has retired from professional wrestling. And last night, Sheamus showed no mercy to the local Brit with a crucifixion power slam.

Third Match: Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne. In a backstage interview with The Miz, he talks about being the captain of an elite team of up and comers, and that with his guidance they will win against Morrison's team. Swagger interjected by claiming to be a better suit for the position of captain; he also advised to watch closely to his match against Evan Bourne. Swagger dominated most of the match, until The Miz, making his appearance, distracted him, which allowed for Bourne to pick up the win with The Shooting Star Press. I was disgusted by how WWE executed the end to Swagger's winning streak, it was not believable that Bourne would overcome Swagger so easily. But I sense a future United States Title defense against The All American-American.

At the Survivor Series: The Miz captains the team of Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, and Sheamus. John Morrison captains the opposing team of Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, Finlay, and Evan Bourne.

MVP’s VIP Lounge: MVP and Mark Henry welcomed their guest and captain of their Survivor Series team, Kofi Kingston. Kofi was praised for standing up against Orton’s tyranny and refusing to be bullied around. Yet, Legacy crashed the VIP Lounge, badmouthing the lounge for its pleather and $50 bottles of champagne. It was basically the rich white kids making fun of the poor minorities, until a fight broke out. Nice segway into our next match.

Fourth Match: Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton. The night Mark Henry was drafted from ECW to RAW, through the Trump Trade, he shoved Orton around in a gauntlet match as a testament to what he was capable of. It’s been five months since, and Henry finally gets his one-on-one with Orton. In the match, Henry was fatiguing a lot faster than Orton; I knew that Henry was not in the same shape as he was 10 years ago, but he is out of shape! The people of Britain demanded an RKO and they got it, Orton struck and won the match.

At the Survivor Series: Randy Orton leads Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, CM Punk, and William Regal. Kofi Kingston will lead the opposing team of MVP, Mark Henry, R-Truth, and Christian; what is this, The Nation of Domination? Kofi’s team is an all black team with a single Canadian; looks as if Christian is this decade’s Owen Hart.

Fifth Match: Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton vs. Chavo Guerrero (Boxer vs. Wrestler). Really, we chose Chavo to represent professional wrestling? Hatton has won 45 matches, and 32 of them were by KO! Chavo’s record is more like he lost 45 matches, and 32 of them were by leprechaun. Chavo had his split second of grappling Ricky to the ground, but Ricky ended knocking him out. Congrats Hatton, you did something Cedric the Entertainer couldn’t, and that’s beat Chavo Guerrero.

Main Event: DX vs. Jeri-Show. John Cena accompanied King and Cole on commentary, and the three really deciphered the main event matches for the Survivor Series. If DX were to remain together throughout the match, then Cena’s chances of retaining his title would be slim; but if DX split up, a clash of egos would benefit Cena. The main focus was on Shawn Michaels, leading me to wonder if Shawn is being considered for another title reign. Big Show accidentally knocked Jericho out after Michaels avoided the mammoth sized fist. Show froze in disbelief and was knocked over the ropes by Triple H, giving Michaels the cover on Jericho for the win. After the match, the main event for next week was announced, a triple threat match consisting of DX, Jeri-Show, and John Cena and his partner… The Undertaker!

WWE Superstars Results: Swaggin' Streak; Finlay Fails to Crack the Code

RAW Match: Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero. The battle of the jobbers, to see who is the biggest jobber! Santino has become a real crowd favorite; before he was a bonafide heel, but with the RAW celebrity guest hosts, he has warmed up to the WWE Universe. King made a great point, Chavo is a great wrestler but his feud with Hornswoggle has ruined him. But what I've heard, Chavo is content with his position in the WWE, seeing as he is on RAW, being used every week, and gets to interact with all the guest hosts... Plus, Chavo is not in any high risk matches, so the Mexican Warrior has it made in the WWE. Santino Marella picked up with win with a small package roll up.

RAW Match 2: Jack Swagger vs. Primo Colon. This is a rematch from last week's WWE Superstars, pitting Swagger against Primo yet again. And it ended the same way, Primo attempts a Hurricanrana, which gets countered into the Gut-Wrench Powerbomb. Swagger is going 4-0 and living up to his promise to remain undefeated in singles competition. The first two were on RAW against Evan Bourne and MVP, and the last two against Primo on WWE Superstars. Maybe a WWE Title match in his future?

ECW Match: Paul Burchill vs. Tyler Reks. The match was boring as sin; honestly, why is ECW presenting this to the WWE Universe? I don't think that it's sending a positive message to the WGN America audience that ECW is the show to watch. Despite being a part of the June 30th ECW Superstar Initiative, Tyler Reks has scarcely been seen on ECW and there is a reason, he's boring. Reks hails from Laguna Beach, California with generic Surfer music and his wrestling style is plain. Burchill, on the other hand, is stuck in a feud with The Hurricane, which will come to an end this Tuesday on ECW, and has a really bad finisher: The Dangerous Buster, which is a mere Vertical Suplex pin combo. Burchill wins with said-so finisher.

SmackDown Match: Chris Jericho vs. Finlay. From Bragging Rights to Bragging Brawl, these two put up a decent main event match. What I appreciated from the match, was Striker and Grisham's recognition of Finlay's other accomplishments outside the WWE. And why? First off, because Finlay only has a meager U.S. Title run back in 2006; and, since his other title reigns were in England, this sets up for where RAW, ECW, and SmackDown will take place this upcoming week. Chris Jericho, of course, is the complete package, multi-time World Champion, first Undisputed World Champion, only 9-time Intercontinental Champion, and currently one-half of the Unified Tag Team Champions. He is literally one of the best, which is why I feel, if Edge doesn't come through for WrestleMania, Jericho should go at it for Taker's Streak. Chris Jericho won the match with the Codebreaker.

Ben Roethlisberger Joins DX Union; Iron Man Match Revealed; The Miz is the NEW United States Champion

It is no secret that WWE lost a lot of ratings last week with Rev. Al Sharpton as the Guest Host, but the WWE became popular again with Pittsburgh Steeler's Quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger calling the shots.

Ben received mix reactions from the crowds, but it was strictly a feud between Eagles and Steelers fans. But as Big Ben mentioned, tonight we are all a part of the WWE Universe!

He started off RAW in a big way with a Divas' Bowl, featuring divas from all three brands in a major 2 teamed tag match. Divas' Champion Mickie James was the captain of her team (a team of faces) against Women's Champion Michelle McCool, captain of the Heel Team. Gail Kim was the special guest referee for the match, mostly due to her ruptured breast implant that refrains her from competition. Rosa Mendes started off for her team and starting wailing her arms in an uncontrollable state of fury and went Karate Kid with The Crane stance. Let's just say she didn't last long. Eve Torres executed an impressive standing Senton (haven't seen that from a Diva in ever). What was nice about this match, and bearable, was that all the Divas were able to show off their signature moves. But it was Mickie James who not only DDT'ed the Women's Champion, but pinned her opponent from last night, Alicia Fox, for the decisive victory of her team.

Randy Orton interrupted the celebration to talk about his recent victory over John Cena in Hell in a Cell and he's tired of John Cena. Well, Cena was surprisingly upbeat because he assumed that he would cash in on his rematch clause. With Orton refusing, something had to be settled once and for all. At Sunday's Hell in a Cell, the crowd were split, one half rooting for Cena and the other for Orton. This has not just become a feud, but it has become The feud and at Bragging Rights it all ends. Cena challenged Orton to an Iron Man Match: 60 minutes and the one with the most decisions leaves WWE Champion - no more rematches. But Orton went a step further: No disqualifications, no count-outs. And he went further still: If Cena wins then he is the WWE Champion no questions asked; but if Orton wins, Cena has to leave RAW forever - go to SmackDown, ECW it doesn't matter. The two have agreed on the terms and believe me this will be the most talked about match for years to come. Will John Cena become the WWE Champion, or will he be forced to leave RAW forever?

The following was a match between Jack Swagger and Primo Colon. Anyone wonder where Carlito is? No... just me? Jack Swagger is right that he was not pinned during the Triple Threat Match on Sunday, but even though he didn't win the belt, he still looks and smells like a champion. His promise to the WWE Universe is not to get pinned for the rest of the year. Swagger did have an undefeated streak for the longest on ECW so I believe he can go undefeated for the rest of the year. Swagger faced another high flyer this week: Primo Colon. But high flying won't work for a 2x All American with impeccable wrestling ability and strength. Since this is the start date of his new resolution: Jack Swagger is 1-0.

Then there was a tag team match: MVP and WSM vs. Chavo Guerrero and "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters. MVP and WSM proved that their union was not a one time thing, by defeating the newly formed team of Masters and Guerrero. Mark Henry looks as if he injured or just hurt his knee during the World's Strongest Splash. But Michael Cole does mention that Mark Henry does leave the ring on his own power, which speaks lot about the strenght of WSM. Masters started blaming Chavo for the loss, much like Masters did to his former tag team partner Carlito. Masters attempted a Master Lock, until this time Hornswoggle returned the favor from last week, and saved Chavo.

The Miz requested, from Ben Roethlisberger, another shot at the US Title. Sure he got pinned by Kofi Kingston, and several times before that, but this is his birthday week and all he asks is for one more chance. Roethlisberger set a stipulation: if The Miz loses he must utter the words, "I am The Miz and I'm... Awful..." With that in mind, and the announce team begging for The Miz to lose, failed to get their wish. Instead The Miz gave himself a gift for his birthday, his first singles title. Morrison and The Miz have argued in the locker rooms, on the news, and on dirt sheets claiming one to be The Michaels and the other The Jannetty. But after last night, The Miz has finally captured the United States Champion: He is a 2x Slammy Award Winning, Former WWE and World Tag Team Champion, and is now THE NEW UNITED STATES CHAMPION, THE MIZ! Congrats on the new title victory. If you notice, Kofi Kingston seemed upset during the match, maybe it's a sign of a heel change?

Of course it wouldn't be Monday Night RAW, without an appearance from SmackDown's Unified Tag Team Champions - Chris Jericho and The Big Show. They interrupted Roethlisberger's announcements and started badgering him. But Big Ben proved that he doesn't leave anywhere without some back up: The Defensive linemen of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Big Show didn't seem so tough when confronted by the Steel Curtain of Ben's crew. And to add insult to injury, DX came out in support of Roethlisberger. DX demanded a challenge against JeriShow to see who actually was the better team. Both teams have won their matches at Sunday's pay-per-view, but one team actually went through Hell and Back. A side note: contrary to popular belief the DX faction have held tag team gold - Triple H recruited Tag Team Champs The New Age Outlaws - but Triple H and Michaels together have never held tag team gold together, which is why a battle between JeriShow could possible set up a future title match. However, it doesn't seem likely as that was not the stipulation, it was just for... well, Bragging Rights. DX won the match after disposing of the Big Show and connecting with Sweet Chin Music to Jericho - but should DX really have won? When Jericho left the ring and exit blocked by Roethlisberger and the rest of the defensive linemen, why didn't the ref start a 10 count? DX should have won the match via count-out not pinfall.

Final Assessment: RAW was a 100-fold better than last week's. We witnessed a great title match and the crowning of a new United States Champion, and the set up for what should be an incredible match at Bragging Rights.

Sharpton Lowers Ratings; Hell in a Cell Matches Build Up

Reverend Al Sharpton cost RAW a 3.1 in ratings, the lowest since the start of the celebrity guest hosting.

The show started off with a segment of MVP's VIP Lounge along with his tag team partner, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry. - Business has picked up at the VIP Lounge.

They started to introduce Sharpton until JeriShow interrupted and wanted the honor of welcoming the Reverend to Monday Nights. However, despite both teams trying to hype him up, the RAW crowd and apparently everyone at home could not stand the sight of Al Sharpton as we can sense from the overwhelming "boos."

Yet, Sharpton won them over, for a second, by agreeing to set up a Unified Tag Team Title Defense right on the spot against MVP and WSM. Honestly, that was careless of the host to put JeriShow in a second match, after already having to compete in a gauntlet match later that night.

And just like the Mayweather "hosting" skills, MVP pretty much made the match up as Sharpton stood their as the puppet he is and said yes.

The night consisted of five matches: Chris Jericho and The Big Show defended their Unified Tag Team Titles against MVP and WSM. It appears that WWE built up Cryme Tyme and MVP and WSM just to crush them in the end. Cryme Tyme was wiped out of the picture after being defeated by The Hart Dynasty 2 weeks ago, and now MVP and WSM lost in their 2nd pursuit for the titles. However, JeriShow may have won tonight, but will they recover in time to face Batista and Rey Mysterio for the titles come this Sunday?

The next match was a one-on-one match between the Divas Champion Mickie James and Rosa Mendes. Honestly, why is Mickie James proving herself in the ring? She easily disposed of Rosa Mendes. Last week, Mickie was pinned by "The Glamazon" with no help from Alicia Fox. Shouldn't that be the point of these matches? To have Alicia Fox interfere and have Mickie lose matches? As of right now, there is No Chance in Hell that Alicia Fox will win on merit alone.

Then there was the contest of Jack Swagger and Evan Bourne. So far Bourne has an awesome high octane entrance that gets the fans pumped, but he's been turned into a jobber - much like the early career of Jeff Hardy. Jack Swagger entered with a fourth of July pyro and bearing the United States Championship. Now, Swagger didn't win the title last week, he just stole it from The Miz who stole it from Kofi Kingston (the rightful champion). After the match, Swagger proclaimed that he would become the next champion and be known as The All American-American United States Champion. But of course, The Miz foresees another outcome where he's the United States Champion. The two started scuffling inside the ring - impressed that Miz could even knock down Swagger. The sad thing is, these two have a better feud than any one of them have against Kofi Kingston. And a side note: Kofi Kingston is now being billed from Ghana, West Africa his true birthplace as opposed to his storied birthplace of Kingston, Jamaica. So eventually, it would make sense that he would change his gimmick. You cannot be a Jamaican Superstar from Ghana, it just doesn't make sense.

The fourth match was a tag team match: Chavo Guerrero and Chris Masters def. Santino Marella and Hornswoggle. As of late, Chavo, in story line, has been disgusted with facing off against Hornswoggle in no-win situations so this week he decided to team up with Masters, but it was Santino Marella that named his partner Hornswoggle. Marella assumed that he could take either one of them on single-handedly, but that just didn't work out as he passed out from The Master Lock. Now, the twist in the match was when Masters locked the move on Hornswoggle as added punishment. But it was Chavo Guerrero who decided to knock out Masters on his back, protecting Hornswoggle? What has caused this change of events? The leprechaun has been humiliating Chavo for months and it's now that he decides to be friends with him? Only time will tell why Chavo did this, but honestly, these three have to much potential to be messing around with a leprechaun. WWE wonders why they don't have enough main event star power... well this is why!

And the final match was a gauntlet match: WWE Champion John Cena vs. Unified Tag Team JeriShow and Randy Orton. Chris Jericho and Big Show disqualified themselves by failing to adhere to the 5 count. Which left Randy Orton to take on

John Cena. Except Cena was prepared for the match as he called for the Hell in a Cell to drop down, enclosing the two combatants in the ring. This of course was a hype up for the match this sunday as the battle took place outside of the cell and scaled the 20ft structure, where Cena tossed Orton with the Attitude Adjuster on top of the cell. As Cena said before, this Sunday will be Orton's last chance at the Title, after this there are no more title shots. Can Orton defy the odds and defeat Cena in Hell in a Cell?

Another build up was between Legacy and DX, as Legacy spoke in the ring of how they are the new dominate force in the WWE and they will win this sunday. DX off to their old pranks started cracking jokes at them and compared themselves to The Hulk, sure when they joke around they are Bruce Banner, but when the monster unleashes, well... they like it when the monster unleashes and this Sunday they will see a darker more ruthless side of them. Can Legacy continue to cement their Legacy or will DX prove to be the Greatest Tag Team of All time?

Cedric Entertains; Lilian Garcia Says Goodbye to WWE

The preshow opening segment was rather bazaar – with The Bellas coming out of the limo followed by the guest of Monday Night RAW, Cedric the Entertainer. Then the limo looked more like a clown car as a referee, football players, a rabbi circumcising a baby, a farmer with a goat, and an old lady came out of the limo. What was that about?

Cedric made his presence felt as he cracked some jokes on, aside from Legacy, wrestlers who are possible second generation superstars. The offspring of Andre the Giant and King Kong Bundy bore The Big Show; The Kool Aid Pitcher bore Mark Henry; and a jackass bore The Miz.

But the joke was on Cedric as Chavo Guerrero challenged him to a match and Santino Marella accepted on his behalf. Cedric is not a wrestler, but if Chavo is losing to Hornswoggle, maybe Cedric has a chance. Chavo’s challenge is in response to his unhappiness with how all the guest host keep putting him in matches against Hornswoggle with the stipulations always stacked against him.

Cedric also issued a six-man tag match between John Cena, MVP, and Mark Henry against Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and The Big Show. The match wasn’t really unique because just last week we had a six-person tag match with Trish Stratus and Beth Phoenix fighting alongside the rival tag teams. However, Cedric – with the persuasion of Jericho and Show, of course – enforced that if the team of Orton loses, then Orton will face in a gauntlet match, next week, against John Cena, MVP, and Mark Henry. But if the team of Cena loses, then Cena will then face in a gauntlet match against Orton, Jericho, and Big Show.

The Cedric-Chavo match was a bit frustrating and entertaining at the same time. Cedric, being accompanied by the Bellas, entered the ring in white tights, red cape and underwear, with a top hat. And if that were not enough to get into the wrestling spirit, he dawned on a luchadore mask. Chavo could not stop laughing at Cedric’s get up, but the joke was on him when Cedric fled under the ring and a tougher Cedric wrestler came out to fight. King shouted, Cedric must have worked out under that ring. But in all honesty it was Ezekiel Jackson in the get up, and after a tadpole splash from little Cedric (Hornswoggle) – the real Cedric ran into the ring for the cover, counted by Santino Marella, the guest referee.

Towards the end of the program, Jerry “The King” Lawler announced that tonight’s RAW would be Lilian Garcia’s final night with the WWE. It was a bit anti-climatic, because all she gave was a farewell speech and that was it. I was hoping that after 10 years with the company, she would at least have all the Divas come out and chant, Thank You Lilian – similar to what they did for Ric Flair. Jim Ross wrote on his blog of what Lilian Garcia plans to due with her life now and how vital she was to the WWE: Lilian told me that she was going to be forming a band and I can see her staying busy with, potentially, a multitude of music oriented projects plus she's getting married next month, as I understand it. Lilian has traveled thousands of miles for WWE and was a fixture on the "Tribute to the Troops" broadcasts over the years. I wish her the very best and she has been preparing for this exit from Monday night for quite some time. WWE does not have a permanent plan for Lilian’s replacement, but word has it that Howard Finkel will resume the post until a more permanent replacement comes along. Seeing as ECW once had Courtney Taylor as the backstage interviewer and then was replaced by Savannah for the past two weeks… it’s possible that Taylor may be considered for the role as ring announcer.

Lilian Garcia will be missed. Who’ll sing the National Anthem now?

Undertaker Screwed Over, Wrestlers Support Jeff Hardy After Arrest

Last night in Montreal, CM Punk sunk to new lows in order to reaffirm his beliefs and to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

GM Teddy Long has been pressured by McMahon to impress him, to do something spectacular, something that deserves excellence... Well, Long finally reached his breaking point when he ordered the World Heavyweight Title Match to be restarted, after Taker submitted Punk using Hell's Gate. The reason for this, is that former GM, Vickie Guerrero, banned the move shortly after WrestleMania XXIV. She made this decree after Taker injured so many, including her ex-husband Edge, with the blood choking hold. Who would'be guessed that Teddy would uphold it?

CM Punk took the chance to apply the Anaconda Vice, the move that made Matt Hardy tap out just the Friday before, on the Undertaker. But just as Punk finished getting the hold - Referee Scott Armstrong called for the bell.

The Undertaker has never submitted in his entire wrestling career, but on this night, where in 1997 Shawn Michaels and McMahon screwed Bret Hart from the WWE Title, more than ten years later, McMahon would screw over Hulk Hogan in 2003 and now The Undertaker in 2009. Much like the real life screw job of 97', Taker never tapped out. Let's just call this night, Montreal Screw Job III.

Prior to the match, CM Punk was interviewed by Josh Matthews and he goes on to mention: He is a Straight-Edge Champion that people can trust, and at least you won't see his mugshot all over the internet.

This is in regards to the recent arrest of Jeff Hardy 9/11/09:

Fayetteville Police Chief Deputy Neil Godfrey says that Jeff Hardy's home was searched Friday morning at 10:30am based on a police tip that there were drugs on the premises.

Upon arriving at the house, police encountered Hardy and "wife" (fiancee) Beth. After completing the search and finding the various drugs and paraphernalia, the police proceeded to arrest and charge the former WWE Superstar. Hardy's significant other was not included in the arrest.

Charged with "trafficking in opium, two counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for drugs, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia," according to the Observer, Hardy would face a mandatory prison term if convicted of some of the key charges. Opium trafficking, for instance, guarantees a three year stint behind bars.

Godfrey added that because the case remains under investigation, it is too early to determine if more charges-either against Hardy or others who are potentially involved - will be filed.

Hardy, who has not outright denied the alleged possession of drugs ranging from anabolic steroids to cocaine to Vicodin but has criticized inaccurate media reporting, is scheduled to make his first court appearance on the matter Monday.

Hardy, a former WWE World Champion and one of the most popular wrestlers in the modern era of the company, departed the organization for a personal hiatus a few weeks ago. Eerily, his final story-line, a feud with current World Champion, CM Punk, played off his history of alleged drug issues.

It's not a surprise then that CM Punk would attack Jeff unsubtly: "You will never see my mugshot all over the internet!"

However, throughout the twitter world, many of Jeff's fan base have fallen out of favor for the once-rainbow haired warrior. But those that are sticking by Jeff are not just the fans, but other wrestlers:

Hornswoggle Ruins Match; D-Generation X and Legacy Evenly Matched?

For months, Chavo Guerrero has been humiliated time and time again by jobbing to Hornswoggle. It's always in these ridiculous stipulation matches that guarantee Swoggle the victory. Yet, last Monday, Chavo was finally given a serious match - against Evan Bourne.

This was the first time that my finger didn't reach for the fast forward key on my DVR, because his opponent was NOT Hornswoggle.

And lucky I didn't, because it was a great match up. Reminds me of the days of the Cruiser-weight wrestlers. Which, they tend to be high-flyers, and that's what this match was - an excellent showcase of high-flying wrestling.

Then... he showed up! The pint-sized leprechaun showed up with a water gun and sprayed Chavo as he was ready to execute the Frog Splash off the top turnbuckle.

Well... there was a splash alright, but it was from the tadpole - Hornswoggle.

With the distraction, Even Bourne went quickly for the standing roll up - and pinned Chavo for the win.

Which was wrong! Chavo Guerrero should've won the match via disqualification. Hornswoggle, did indeed, attack Chavo with a foreign object and deliberately interfered with the match.

When Chavo went to complain to Bob Barker, he ended up getting more than he bargained for. If anyone recalls Bob Barker's role in the 1996 Adam Sandler film "Happy Gilmore" - Barker knocked out Sandler and said "The Price is Wrong, B---h!" Well, supposedly, Barker was trained by the legendary Chuck Norris, and delivered a devastating punch to the midsection, followed by a karate chop to the back of the neck of Chavo Guerrero.

Well... Chavo... "The Price is Wrong, B---h!"

The Men of D-Generation X, played a game with Bob Barker - to determine their opponents in the main event tag team match. HBK picked "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters, and Triple H chose Randy Orton.

Which, I believe was a great combination. WWE RAW should input random superstars in the main event from time-to-time. It gives it a bit of spontaneity.

Randy Orton may be one of the most gifted wrestlers of all time, next to Chris Jericho, but he doesn't have a submission move. How does Orton expect to make Cena say "I Quit" if he does not have a submission move?

Orton and Masters had great chemistry in the ring - recalling the days of Rated-RKO, when Orton teamed with Edge, or when GM William Regal forced Orton and Cena to team up. Orton may not be remembered as a tag team player, but he is very much so a tag team specialist.

HBK and Triple H showed Legacy what submissions they are capable of - a Figure-Four and a Sharp Shooter. But let's not forget that HBK has also implemented the Sharp Shooter and has the Cross-face.

So, D-Generation X have an arsenal of submission moves at their disposal. What does Legacy have?

Rhodes and DiBiase ambushed DX, yet again, at the end of their match - with the action taking place outside of the arena. Of course, this is a ploy to hype up their Submission counts anywhere match. But seeing as Orton taught them everything they know... they are in dire need of submission moves.

The only thing Rhodes and DiBiase can do is pull a page from their fathers' submission maneuvers - the Figure-Four Leg Lock.

Mickie James Chewed Out For Botched Match; The Miz and Evan Bourne Rise!

Turns out that WWE Management were none to happy with the botched Divas' Title Match last week's Monday Night RAW - but not for the same reasons Mickie James had.

Mickie James was chewed out by WWE for her unprofessionalism in the ring for not being able to sell the match - when she was unable to connect with the Mick DDT, the phantom Mick Kick, and the improvised forearm to end the match.

Mickie James had a sour look throughout the end of the match - basically breaking kayfabe in the ring with how the match ended.

Gail Kim was treated after the match and everything was okay - she just became dazed from the impact of her top rope cross-body.

I'm speculating that Mickie James is being punished for her unprofessionalism by jobbing her last Monday Night on RAW.

Mickie, along with Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly, participated in a 6-Divas Tag Team Match against Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes, and Alicia Fox.

The women were clad in boxing attire in respect to the night's guest host - Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

All the women wore shorts, except for James who wore a mini-mini skirt. You can tell it made her uncomfortable since she kept readjusting it every 5-seconds. At one point she gave the WWE Universe a peep show of her underwear.

Mickie James is not one to approve of such attire because she wants to be proven for her wrestling ability not how sexy she can look in a bikini.

But the biggest upset was having Alicia Fox kick and pin Mickie James. Alicia Fox is a newbie, a lackey at best, and to have her pin the Divas Champion is a major upset.

It would have been believable if Beth Phoenix, a 2-time Women's Champion, pinned Mickie - but it was Alicia Fox, sporting the red/white/blue Apollo Creed trunks.

Much like when Triple H broke kayfabe in, what has been dubbed as, "The Kliq" incident - Mickie James was jobbed for her breaking kayfabe.

In other RAW news, The Miz battled Santino Marella in one-on-one action. Santino actually seemed to have a chance against The Miz by countering maneuvers and creating some offence.

However, it was The Miz that triumphed with The Skull Crushing Finale.

Initially, the dark match for SummerSlam was going to be The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston - but WWE went ahead with the 15-Diva Battle Royal instead. Good thing too, seeing as this is the first time that WWE has actually set up some sort of credibility for the United States title. It would be a shame if they destroyed it by setting up an impromptu match for a title with no build-up.

The Miz got on the mic again and stated that he will take Kofi Kingston's United States Title - because "I'M THE MIZ! AND I'M AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!"

Chavo Guerrero and Hornswoggle had another match up - you know, the match where Hornswoggle wins because it's set up that way.

Poor Chavo Guerrero - the name means Warrior - but he's a jobber to Hornswoggle.

Chavo once again lost the match, but instead of retreating in embarrassment - He took his frustration and started wailing on Hornswoggle.

And to the rescue was Evan "Air" Bourne, with a kick to the mid-section and the impressive Shooting Star Press!

Chavo Guerrero may have upgraded to a feud with Bourne - let's hope so, because WWE has no clue what to do with either of them.

Beth Phoenix Dominates 15-Diva Battle Royal; Rey Mysterio leaves SummerSlam Hometown Hero

SummerSlam proved to be a memorable night and saw the return of two sure-fire Hall of Famers.

Now, WWE usually pumps up the audience with a dark match – a.k.a. a bonus, untelevised match not featured on the card.

The WWE were conflicted with two options – either has The Miz fight Kofi Kingston or have a 15-Diva Battle Royal.

Seeing as Kofi was slated to participate in the WWE Universe Live Chat hosted by Corey Clayton – The Divas had the chance to show the Staples Center what they were made of.

The Royal was not for any prize or recognition – just a showcase of strength.

There were no friends in this Royal as former friends grappled and forced one another out of the ring. But Beth Phoenix proved to be the strongest as she clotheslined two Divas – but Natalya, daughter of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, also clotheslined two Divas, one of them being Beth Phoenix.

But in the end, it was Phoenix who prevailed – thanks to the help of special guest referee Chavo Guerrero.

Chavo seemed pretty pleased with his handiwork, until the Divas united to hold him down so that Hornswoggle could perform the Tadpole Splash.

Oh, Chavo… What is WWE doing to the Guerrero name?

The opening match was for the Intercontinental Championship. Dolph Ziggler entered the arena hoping to capture his first title, but dodging the 619 was not enough. Rey Mysterio entered his hometown clad in the Los Angeles colors, executed a top rope hurricanrana, and then finished it off with a second 619 that connected – giving Rey Mysterio the win and still the Intercontinental Champion.

Dolph Ziggler is no doubt meant for future glory in the WWE, but after failing to capture the gold twice, it’s best to let someone else strive for the gold for a while and continue to build up Ziggler with more wins.

How, How, How... did ZZ Top do on Monday Night RAW?

After Orton issued a handicapped Tag Team match of Legacy versus John Cena and Triple H - the WWE Universe were introduced to ZZ Top, Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons.

Huge fans of the WWE, they once recorded an entrance theme for Nicholas "Wild Thing" Bauer - at Stone Cold Steve Austin's request; they are the first ever co-hosts of Monday Night RAW and were ecstatic to be running the show tonight.

Santino Marella arrived on the scene calling them "Zzzzzzz Top!" and switching their first names - Dusty Gibbons and Billy Hill; but still claiming to be a huge fan of theirs. In honor of his "devotion," Hill fitted Santino with an honorary chest-length, ZZ Top signature, beard, and a pair of "Cheap Sunglasses" to complete the trio for tonight. Santino looked more like a Muppet from Sesame Street - with an oversized beard and shades - quite comedic.

It was also nice of ZZ Top to let Santino play - even if it was air guitar... with an actual guitar.

After the Big Show proved his dominance in the after match of the six man tag team match - ZZ Top plugged in their summer tour with Aerosmith - how did we not see that one coming...

When ZZ Top almost proved to be completely worthless, Jericho showed up to meet the icons of Rock n' Roll and requested a jamming session - seeing as he is the lead singer of his rock band, Fozzy.

Hill and Gibbons had no idea who Fozzy were, but they did know that they wanted Chris Jericho to face off against "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry. And when asked "How?" The Trio started playing "La Grange" in response to Jericho's "How, how, how."

If one match were not enough to prove their status as hosts - ZZ Top outsmarted Chavo Guerrero into accepting another match against Hornswoggle in a "Sharp Dressed Man" match - how interesting that the match also so happens to be the title to one of their smash hits! Do we see a pattern forming here?

And lets not forget their other hit single, "Legs" featuring the Divas of Monday Night RAW: Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox, Gail Kim, Rosa Mendes, and Santino? The music was all a blair until Santino showed off his legs, in which the music cut - That's when ZZ Top decided to cut out. As a farewell to the whole ZZ Top gimmick - the Divas then contested in a ZZ Top "Legs" tag team match.

And it would not be complete without ZZ Top riding into the arena in, non other than, the red 1933 Ford 3-window coupe hot rod "The Eliminator."

I will go on to say that ZZ Top really had no business hosting Monday Night RAW, just like Seth Green, it's all a gimmick to plug their own projects. At least Seth made matches throughout the night - ZZ Top made two matches and played music the whole time. If it were not for Santino Marella jamming alongside them in a ZZ Top makeover - the whole ZZ Top angle would have been a total flop.
