SmackDown Results: 4/2/10 - SmackDown Gets Swag!

Chris Jericho No Longer Champion, Bank on That!

Similar to two years ago when Edge lost the World Heavyweight title to C.M. Punk, after Batista assaulted Edge which prompted Punk to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and defeat Edge to win the title, Jack Swagger cashed in his briefcase on Chris Jericho, who had just been assaulted by Edge. Seems like karma is coming back to Edge tenfold as he was dubbed the Ultimate Opportunist for cashing in the first-ever Money in the Bank contract against John Cena after he had retained the title inside an Elimination Chamber back in 2006 at New Year's Revolution; and again on The Undertaker in 2007 who had just retained his title in a Steel Cage Match on SmackDown. Edge lost his title match to Chris Jericho at WrestleMania after a blatant shot to the head with the World Heavyweight Title, but Edge received retribution when he speared Chris Jericho off of the announce table and into the time keeper's barricade. Being denied of a rematch on SmackDown, Edge rushed Jericho with the Edgecution followed by a Spear! Jack Swagger than used the opportunity to strike Edge with the briefcase, cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, and connected with the Gutwrench powerbomb for his first World Heavyweight Championship.

Jack Swagger became the ECW Champion on January 12, 2009 by defeating Matt Hardy for the strap, and now more than a year removed, Jack Swagger won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania and cashed it in just five days later to become the World Heavyweight Champion. Swagger was always meant for greatness, but his switch over to RAW and constant jobbing to Santino Marella has hurt his credibility as the Champion. But much like Edge and C.M. Punk who cashed in their first Money in the Bank contracts when they weren't ready, over time they became credible World Champions. If this reign is anything like we saw in ECW, SmackDown is in for a rush of intense physical match ups and successful title retentions.

It's About Tyme Cryme Tyme Split
R-Truth and John Morrison vs. Cryme Tyme

After losing against R-Truth and John Morrison, in which Shad Gaspard never had the chance to tag in his partner, Gaspard assaulted JTG. Cryme Tyme have been teaming, stealing, and tugging together for four years, but another loss and zero tag team titles later, Shad has had enough.

With a big boot to the face followed by an STO on JTG, Shad Gaspard has proclaimed that there is no more Cryme Tyme, but only "My Time." Realistically, Cryme Tyme has never been a formidable tag team, never accomplished any goals, and has jobbed to everyone in the business. In late 2009, WWE had given individual attention to JTG who scored an upset over Chris Jericho. It is a surprise that now Shad Gaspard is getting the push towards a singles career. Will we see a match between these two former tag team partners, or will JTG slowly be forgotten?

Matt Hardy's WWE Future Shock
Drew McIntyre vs. Matt Hardy

This match up between Matt Hardy and Drew McIntyre cannot even be considered a squash match because it never started. McIntyre attacked Matt Hardy prior to entering the ring and struck with the Future Shock DDT. A few weeks ago, Matt Hardy delivered Drew's second "first loss" to qualify for Money in the Bank. Yet, with another WrestleMania set in the record books, Drew McIntyre went back to doing what he was known for, dominating his opponents. As for Matt Hardy, the heart and soul of the WWE, he was seconds away from becoming this year's Mr. Money in the Bank. And while the out pour of cheers for the possible culmination of a twelve year long journey was strong within the University of Phoenix Stadium, Matt Hardy did not win. Then for WWE to place Matt Hardy in this job boggles the mind. The fans want Matt Hardy to reach the mountain top, why would the powers that be within the WWE keep throwing Matt back in a jobbing position?

Back to India The Great Khali Goes
Dolph Ziggler vs. The Great Khali

In another squash match (becoming a regular thing), Dolph Ziggler picked his spots and locked in the sleeper hold on The Great Khali. The Punjabi Playboy was able to throw Ziggler off, but was susceptible to a second sleeper. Unable to break the hold, Khali was unable to continue and lost the match via submission. Afterwards, Khali informed the WWE Universe that he would be returning back to India to spend time with family and recharge his batteries. In other words, either his visa has expired, or his leave of absence from the Punjabi police force is long over due.

C.M. Punk's Hairy Proposal

C.M. Punk lost to Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania, thus losing a new recruit to the Straightedge Society. The leader of the Straightedge Society has requested a rematch, and if Punk loses to Mysterio again, he is willing to part with his hair. Much like the sacredness of a Samuari's top knot, Punk's hair is a symbol of his leadership status within the Straightedge Society because he has never been tainted with drugs or alcohol. Punk's offer is to show Mysterio that he actually cares about saving his soul. But do not let the offering fool anyone, because behind those eyes of C.M. Punk lies hatred towards a world filled with drugs and alcohol. C.M. Punk may look like the anti-Christ, but his dream of a non-hallucinogen society has some merit; however, his approach of the ends justify the means disregards the law of free will.

A Glam Slam Victory
Beth Phoenix and Tiffany vs. Michelle McCool and Layla w/Vickie Guerrero

Beth Phoenix was not able to lead her team to victory at WrestleMania, but on SmackDown she proved once again why she is the most dominate diva in all the WWE. She once again teamed up with Tiffany against Women's Champion Michelle McCool and Layla. Tiffany continued to improve on her in-ring skill set as she tripped McCool with a drop down toe-hold and connected with an Inverted Atomic Drop. But it was Beth Phoenix who dominated Layla with an airplane spin, clotheslines, and The Glam Slam. Vickie Guerrero may not want to give Beth Phoenix a title shot, but eventually Vickie will be forced to place McCool in a title match.

Kane's NEXT victims
Kane vs. All 8 NXT Rookies

Kane growing bored and frustrated with the amounting losses announced that he would take on his frustration against the entire NXT roster. After the pros had their first poll to rank the NXT rookies, it has been announced that in six weeks, the rookie that reaches last place will be eliminated from the NXT competition. So for this match to feature all the NXT rookies is a major treat, because only one will make it into the WWE, while the other 7 will be sent back to FCW or out of WWE.

Kane started out the match with Daniel Bryan, who ranked #1 in the polls despite his 0-5 loss record prior to voting. Daniel Bryan may be the best wrestler, but when it comes to the Big Red Monster Kane, 10 years in the indies cannot prepare you for that encounter. Wade Barret, ranking in 2nd place and mentored by the now-former World Heavyweight Champion, was the first to be eliminated by Kane. Heath Slater, undefeated on NXT, became Kane's next victim as he was eliminated. The match ended in disqualification as the remaining 6 rookies ambushed Kane, thus disregarding the tag-in rule. Then in order to make an impact, Daniel Bryan went air born with a double kick to the face of Kane, followed by Justin Gabriel who struck with the 450 Splash.

The World Heavyweight Champion's Inaugural Address

The new World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger, addressed the WWE Universe and proclaimed that his World Title win was a sign of him succeeding Shawn Michaels as the company's greatest wrestler. Jack Swagger does have the makings of becoming a dominate World Champion, it is however sad that it took a World Title to elevate his status, when his wrestling and power speaks for itself.

Chris Jericho and Edge argued on who should take on Jack Swagger, seeing as Jericho is injured and unable to use his rematch and Edge does not have a rematch. Teddy Long, possibly the worst GM in the WWE, is giving Chris Jericho, an injured man, a hard time of not wanting to use his rematch. Yet, he allows Michelle McCool to not defend her title well past the 30 day mark. If Batista can utilize his rematch when he feels the time is right, Chris Jericho should be allowed until the next pay-per-view to contend for Swagger's title.

Afterwards, Teddy Long has announced that next week, Chris Jericho and Edge will face each other for a shot at the World Heavyweight Title. Then Chris Jericho struck Edge with the Codebreaker, but was doubled in pain from his existing injury. Jack Swagger entered the ring and delivered Gutwrench powerbombs to both Chris Jericho and Edge. Love him or hate him, Jack Swagger is the World Heavyweight Champion.

WWE Superstars Results: 3/25/10 - C.M. Punk and Rey Mysterio Build towards WrestleMania

WWE Superstars Layeth the SmackDown!

C.M. Punk vs. JTG

Due to time constraints of filling every WWE program with WrestleMania video packages, the final matches for Rey Mysterio and C.M. Punk before facing each other at WrestleMania were scheduled to take place on WWE Superstars.

C.M. Punk took on JTG in a highly unorthodox match up. The team of Cryme Tyme were left out of this year's WrestleMania once again after losing the contenders match for the Unified Tag Team Titles. Yet, it should be an honor for JTG to take on a former 3x World Champion for the sake of putting him over at WrestleMania.

The concept of this match was to brace C.M. Punk for Rey Mysterio. But why JTG? Because he is fast and unpredictable, which is the type of in-ring competitor that Rey is.

The match ended with Punk scoring the victory with the GTS. If Punk really wanted to ready himself for his match, he should have challenged Evan Bourne or Kofi Kingston, which would have provided for an intense high flying match.

Tyson Kidd's WrestleMania

Rey Mysterio vs. Tyson Kidd

Rey Mysterio took on The Hart Dynasty's Tyson Kidd as he prepared for C.M. Punk. Rey has a lot riding on his 'Mania match. First off, he has to defend his family's honor; and secondly, if he loses, he will have to join the Straightedge Society. And if that were the case, he may have to lose the mask.

This match between Tyson Kidd and Rey Mysterio has been dubbed Tyson Kidd's WrestleMania (by me) because he gets to go one on one with a former World Champion on WrestleMania week. Tyson Kidd is a perfect fit for Mysterio because he is similar to Punk's striking power.

Tyson started off the match with a wrist lock followed by an armlock. Then Rey Mysterio kicked up the pace by throwing in a missed bulldog into a Steamboat arm drag, but Tyson able to match the speed managed to stay on his feet. And this was where Tyson became dangerous because he grounded Mysterio with kicks, punches, and elbow shots to shoulders. But when Mysterio set up for the 619, that's when the Harts provided the distractions.

The Harts really turned the match around by allowing Tyson enough momentum to pick up Mysterio and ram him into the barricades. Then Tyson countered Mysterio's flying headbutt with a drop kick in mid air. And an abdominal stretch while digging his elbow to the outstretch side of Rey Mysterio. Tyson Kidd would just not let up as he also executed a springboard face buster from the top ropes and went for another 2 count. However, Tyson slipped off the second rope while trying to execute the double jump moonsault, but it wouldn't be the end just yet as he sustained more offense from Mysterio.

The match ended with Mysterio striking with the 619 after Tyson became to cocky in his rising momentum that caused him to be layed out with a huricanrana which would lead up to the 619.

WWE Superstars Results: 2/11/10

Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, fall to a Gut-Wrench Powerbomb

This year's Royal Rumble was one of the most star studded Rumbles ever; and a large part is due to Santino's absence. Last year, Santino Marella was not only in the Rumble, but broke The Warlord's record of the shortest time in a Royal Rumble Match. Jack Swagger, who took out Santino Marella for embarrassing him in the All-American-American Challenges, should not be disdained, but he should be praised for helping make the Rumble what it was.

Santino believed he could get the upper hand on Swagger with his new move The Cobra. Sadly, he is relying on a move that he has never successfully used, so when you go up against a pure athlete such as Jack Swagger, the result will be a Gut-Wrench Powerbomb.

Christian Regains Momentum

The ECW Champion has a lot of things on his mind. First off, this upcoming Tuesday is the final ECW. He will have to defend the title one last time against Ezekiel Jackson in an Extreme Rules Match. And he has to consider which brand to transfer to.

His sights are possibly on RAW, as Christian challenged Sheamus in a one-on-one match. The WWE Champion toppled over Christian, but safe bets are that the Peep Show will make a new home on RAW.

Zack Ryder, possibly one of the most interesting wrestlers in the WWE, will also have to decide where he will go. Seeing as RAW puts entertainment before wrestling, Zack Ryder would be right at home on the A-Brand.

This was possibly the fourth-fifth-sixth encounter between these two... And guess what? The outcome remains the same. Despite striking with the Rough Ryder, Christian powered out and eventually struck with the Killswitch.

Unbelievable Main-Event

WWE Superstars should really learn to categorize what should be labeled a main event card. The reason that ratings are as low as they are is because they feel that Dolph Ziggler versus JTG is a main event.

Dolph Ziggler, who hasn't advanced from his feuds with John Morrison or Kane, cannot expect to advance his career by fighting JTG.

As for JTG, WWE obviously favors him over Shad Gaspard. JTG has been entered into the Royal Rumble the past three years, while Shad has been on the sidelines.

The main event spot should have been reserved for ECW seeing as the champion was in action, and it was the final ECW match on WWE Superstars. But as far as this match was concerned, both seemed evenly match, and it was by a hair that Ziggler was able to walk away with a victory.

WWE Superstars Results: 12/31/09

Last Call for Alicia Fox. Since becoming the Divas' Champion in October, Melina has taken on all comers. Actually, Melina has only defended her title twice... against Jillian Hall as to her rematch clause... and against Alicia Fox at Madison Square Garden. Once again she would take on Alicia Fox in a non-title match. And unlike the Women's Champion, Michelle McCool, Melina does not sit at ringside with funny shirts, but, instead, participates in every possible divas' match on RAW. Alicia Fox, who has not been seen in quite some time, took on Melina in one-on-one action. The former wedding planner attempted an inverted double underhook to contort the spine of Melina, but Melina's flexible back bent her body in ways that should not be humanly possible. With that said, Alicia actually walked away from the match... feeling that she gave it her all, yet Melina brought her back in order to execute The Last Call. The competition is really weak over on RAW, while SmackDown has all the diva star-power.

Vance Archer, Future Champion? ECW's contribution to WWE Superstars was a squash match between "The Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin and Vance Archer. Since the TLC pay-per-view, Shelton Benjamin has not seen ring action, yet his return match was not for the faint of heart. Vance Archer got slapped hard in the face after placing Shelton in the tree of whoa (wrapping the opponent upside down from the top turnbuckle). With that empathic statement imprinted on the side of the face, Vance Archer started mercilessly kicking the abdominal region of Benjamin well past the 5-count. And if that were not enough, Vance connected with the Bull's Eye as his empathic statement to the Gold Standard. Now, this match played off the same way as when Shelton faced off against Sheamus, who also failed to adhere to the 5-count, and that man is the current WWE Champion. Will Vance Archer follow suit and climb the mountain as well?

What to do with Charlie Haas? Aside from 2008, and short stints in 2009, Charlie Haas has, for the majority of the time, been off WWE television; leaving most to speculate that he had been released. Indeed, Charlie Haas did request to be released from his contract, but WWE gave him a raise instead after it was presupposed that Kurt Angle had plans for Haas over on TNA. So, after months of being off screen, Charlie Haas teamed up with Mike Knox in a losing effort against Cryme Tyme. On last week's episode of SmackDown, Cryme Tyme took on a team of local wrestlers, for what reason we will not know; but it appears that WWE took an interest from WWEStrikesBack blog post, since they teamed two superstars mentioned here last week. However, after much fortitude against the likes of Shad Gaspard, Haas fell to the Shout Out of JTG. If WWE really wants to make an interesting team - unite Vance Archer and Haas. Or, they can do the sensible thing, which is to bring Haas over to ECW to be established as a top heel. And what would be better than for the once World's Greatest Tag Team to feud?

Carlito Not Forgotten. The main event was provided by RAW with Chris Masters and MVP taking on Jack Swagger and Carlito. Carlito, really? MVP, no doubt finally severing ties with Mark Henry; not so much that there were bad words exchanged but a mutual understanding of branching off. Mark Henry is doing his own thing on RAW, while MVP has become a regular on WWE Superstars. Jack Swagger, a phenomenal wrestler, uses his height and strength to overpower his opponents, just last week he gave the former WWE Champion, John Cena a run for his money. Both MVP and Jack Swagger are primed for the main event scene, they just need that one match that will catapult them to super-stardom. Chris Masters is beyond shadow of doubt excelling as a fan favorite with his dancing pecks. But are the pecks being over done? Chris Masters is also sporting a new entrance theme, which sounds like any other rock theme, but it doesn't fit "The Masterpiece" as did the theme prior. And if pecks and a new theme were not enough, he also has the lovely Eve Torres by his side. Then comes Carlito... In 2004, Carlito in his first match defeated John Cena for the United States Title. So how can someone who defeated Cena in his first night have such a horrible wrestling career? Ric Flair believes it was due to lack of passion. But at the start of his career, Carlito won both the US and I-C Titles in little over a year, and contested for Cena's WWE Title at New Years Revolution in an Elimination Chamber match, but since then WWE has failed to continue pushing his character. The best possible thing to do with Carlito is to reunite him with his brother, and actually work on their gimmick as Caribbean Cool Brothers. As for the match, Chris Masters flex, or made-dance, his pecks as setting up for the Master Lock on Carlito, but the distraction of MVP knocking Swagger over the ropes prompted Carlito to strike Masters with the backstabber for the 3-count. Carlito, only with Chavo Guerrero, has vowed to make the most of the new year, but will he be able to keep that promise as RAW goes head to head with TNA this Monday Night.

WWE Superstars Results: 12/17/09

SmackDown Match: Cryme Tyme vs. Dolph Ziggler and Mike Knox. Who says WWE is not educational? Mike Knox is a kinesiologist, meaning he studies how the body works; and Cryme Tyme has innovative words like "redunkulous." Yeah, go education! Cryme Tyme has been off the radar for a long time, since losing their Bragging Rights spots to Matt Hardy's team who went on to represent SmackDown, and winning. Sure they have appeared here and there, but in losing efforts to The Hart Dynasty. This marked the first WWE Superstars, since losing to R-Truth, that Dolph Ziggler was on the losing side. However, Ziggler was not pinned, but it was Mike Knox who fell to JTG's Shout Out (Spinning Sleeper Slam). Question: Has Knox won a match since coming to SmackDown? Except for that one time back in May?

ECW Match: Vance Archer vs. Tommy Dreamer. Judging from the last time these two fought, I thought Dreamer would start feuding with Ryder, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Vance Archer, who has been destroying countless jobbers, has set his sights on the heart and soul of ECW. The fact that Dreamer has been jobbing since losing the ECW Title speaks multitudes on his status in the WWE. Even when Dreamer was champion, he didn't even act like a champion. He was afraid of facing off against Kozlov, and he tried being emotional in all his speeches. It's like, man up and be the "Extreme" guy that you supposedly are. Still, as a New Yorker, you are obligated to cheer on "Fatty" Dreamer, (JoMo-Miz joke). And you would think that a veteran like Dreamer would know not to cover a guy next to the bottom ropes? Well... Archer broke the three-count with the assist from the bottom rope and eventually went on to win the match with the Scoop Lift (Snap Inverted-DDT). Not sure if I like the name, but whatever gets you the big bucks, fine by me.

RAW Match: Jack Swagger vs. MVP. A rematch from last week, the racial feud continues. The other half of "The World's Strongest Tag Team," which they have never been referenced as such since, was on the winning side of the 6-man tag match on RAW. As for MVP, he requested this rematch against Swagger to prove a point. What's the point? It doesn't matter what your background is, you can still win if you try? Unfortunately for Porter, Swagger dominated most of the match. As a two-time All American, Swagger has a tendency to dictate the pace of the match, so a straight grapple technician approach may not be the best to take him down. Surprises are what help disrupt the flow of the match, which is exactly what Porter did, moving to the outside and getting some offensive strikes. By knocking Swagger out with a big boot to the face, MVP was given the opportunity, long enough, to execute the Play-Maker in order to win the match. With each future champion of tomorrow getting a win over the other, how will they fare when they will most likely become participants at the Royal Rumble?

Final Assessment: It was a solid show, with a slow opening match, a decent middle, and a great finish. Suggestion would be to move the Swagger-MVP feud back over to RAW with a full-blown story line, because it deserves it. These two are the next generation of big named superstars and we can hopefully weed out John Cena from the top of the hierarchy.

WWE Superstars Results: Jack Swagger 3-0; Tyson Kidd Fails Lie Detector

RAW Match: Jack Swagger vs. Primo. After losing the Triple Threat Match at Hell in a Cell, Jack Swagger made a promise to be undefeated in singles competition for the remainder of the year. So far he's 2-0, beating Evan Bourne and MVP. His third opponent was Primo Colon, luckily he was not wearing the red clown shoes from 2 weeks ago. Primo attempted some swift offense, but he was unable to withstand the power of the 280lb force of the Gut wrench Powerbomb. The All American-American walks out WWE Superstars 3-0.

RAW Match 2: Kelly Kelly vs. Alicia Fox. Kelly found some success last Thursday, with a win over Gail Kim; and Alicia has had a series of bad luck against Mickie James in her pursuit for the Divas' Title, but things change. Alicia took the win with a running scissors kick to the back of the head of Kelly Kelly. Only in the WWE can a wedding planner get fired for making out with the groom to be, EDGE, and come back as a wrestler. If Kelly Kelly beat Gail Kim, and Alicia beat Kelly, then does that make Alicia better than Gail?

ECW Match: Zack Ryder vs. Tyler Reks. These two have faced off before on WWE Superstars, with Ryder always victorious. Ryder has made a name for himself on ECW, contending for the title and taking Christian to the limits, but he still hasn't reached his goal. Tyler Reks is really faltering since Sheamus has gone to RAW, Yoshi contended for the title, and even Abraham Washington hired Tony Atlas to make his talk show bearable; but, Tyler hasn't done much with his Superstar Initiative. I personally don't see a future for this guy, he just doesn't have what it takes. Zack picked up the win with the Zack Attack.

SmackDown Match: R-Truth and Cryme Tyme vs. Mike Knox and The Hart Dynasty. Its sad to see Hart Dynasty still heels, I like the 3 day span when they were faces fighting alongside R-Truth, Matt Hardy, and Finlay. Cryme Tyme would make better heels, I'm just sayin! And is Mike Know suppose to be intimidating? Because he never wins matches, he's more like a level 1 monster in any game, scary looking but easy to defeat. The heels really tried keeping Cryme Tyme occupied in the ring, avoiding to get Truth tagged in. It built minimal suspense for when Truth finally got into the ring, where everyone got a chance to knock the other out of the ring, to allow Truth to fight Tyson Kidd. I'll say this again, Hart Dynasty was taken out of ECW prematurely without actually really building them first. Truth was even distracted long enough for Tyson to go for a roll up but was countered. Truth won the match with Lie Detector.

Last night we got a glimpse of SmackDown's commentators: Matt Striker and Todd Grisham, Slammy Award winning team.

SmackDown Team Decided; Submission Rematch Set for Next Week

SmackDown may be in serious trouble when it comes to the 7-on-7 tag team match at Bragging Rights. If one looks at the RAW team, it's captained by DX, and they have 2 giants, and 3 rising stars on their side; but over on Jericho's team, the qualifying matches didn't breed a suitable team as one might have hoped.

Jericho started the night announcing his position as the team captain, as well as bad mouthing the shameless merchandising that DX plugs every minute, aka The Unauthorized History of DX. Unbeknown to Jericho's knowledge, Kane appointed himself the co-captain of the team. Jericho, intimidated, seemed rather accepting of Kane's self appointment, because it will take a strong team to take down Team RAW.

The first qualifying match was a triple threat match: Finlay, Mike Knox, and Dolph Ziggler. If it were up to me, I'd chose Mike Knox because his stature and boot to the face could prove useful against two other giants. But in the realm of predictability, Dolph Ziggler got the win after Finlay used the shillelagh on Knox, then took advantage of the prey. Some people are upset that Ziggler hasn't won the title yet, but honestly, Ziggler is not ready. People should stop being so obsessed with titles, a superstar has to be built and show quality craftsmanship in the ring. And as for Finlay, WWE has screwed him over - don't expect him to get a push anytime soon.

Team SmackDown: Chris Jericho, Kane, and Dolph Ziggler.

Second qualifying match was a tag team match where the winning team both advance to the SmackDown team: The Hart Dynasty vs. Cryme Tyme. With Eve being drafted to RAW, one would assume that the dynamic of Cryme Tyme would have fizzed, but they were as sharp as ever. If I were Jericho, neither one of them would advance - they are not hungry enough to taste victory! JTG managed to connect with the neck breaker on Tyson Kidd. The Hart Dynasty were taken out of ECW way too early, they never had enough time to develop.

Team SmackDown: Chris Jericho, Kane, Dolph Ziggler, and Cryme Tyme.

The following qualifying match was set for one fall: Eric Escobar w/ Vickie Guerrero vs Matt Hardy. This match could have gone 2 ways: Matt Hardy wins since he's been in the company for 10+ years; or the win would go to Eric to build his credibility. But to place him in a qualifying match for a pay-per-view? That's too much, plus look at the guy, he's out of shape. You could tell Eric was new because of the rigid grapple moves he held. Escobar won the match with a roll up and a distraction from his manager. What really looked over done was Escobar constant pulling on Matt Hardy's tights. Even during the roll up when Matt was unconscious and no signs of fighting, Eric went straight for the tights - unnecessary. It was a major upset, to watch Matt Hardy be disgraced in the ring like this. He certainly is paying for someone else's sins.

SmackDown Team: Chris Jericho, Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Cryme Tyme, Eric Escobar.

The final qualifying match, also set for one-fall: Drew McIntyre vs R-Truth. Drew McIntyre is a sad attempt from WWE to relive the Rowdy days of professional wrestling. So far, the guy has not brought anything to the ring that would make me what to watch. But of course, since WWE is pushing Drew that he would win the match. R-Truth, much like Evan Bourne, has the support of the fans but he has always been set to lose. We even see a shot of Jericho and Teddy discussing about Drew backstage. Like they actually believe that Drew will be the next best thing. McIntyre didn't win the match by pin fall, rather he won via count out.

Final SmackDown Team: Chris Jericho, Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Cryme Tyme, Eric Escobar, and Drew McIntyre.

And the final match of the night, technically the only match that had nothing to do with the SmackDown Team: Batista vs. Rey Mysterio. This is probably the fakest of all friendships. The way they talk to each other and hug each other ever so gently... It's questionable say the least. How can I root for either of these phonies, where Batista sees himself winning Taker's World Heavyweight Title, and to have Rey just being ok with that. All jokes aside, when the World Heavyweight or WWE Title is on the line, all friendship ties are severed. The match started off as just a basic fight, but when Mysterio attempted the 619, Batista's true colors showed. He knows deep down that Mysterio is not championship material or good enough to take him down. Much like what happened to Regal two weeks ago, the referee blindly counted the 3-count in favor of Mysterio. I say in favor because Batista's shoulder was off the matt, thus only a 2 and a half count. But they hugged it out anyway; again, ever so gently. But before Mysterio could enjoy his mocked victory, CM Punk rushed to the ring to deliver a devastating GTS. As the Fatal Four-Way draws near, it looks as if CM Punk made 2 more enemies.

It has been announced by Mr. McMahon that a rematch of the controversial Breaking Point World Heavyweight Title Submission match between CM Punk and The Undertaker will take place next week on SmackDown. And Scott Armstrong will be the referee again, with Teddy Long at ringside. Will Undertaker still be the champion headed to Bragging Rights, or will CM Punk be bragging over his 4th WHT Reign?

WWE Superstars Results: DiBiase Commands Silence; Not Enough Hart in Next Generation

This is the first EVER blog post regarding the results of WWE Superstars. I figure if WWETheReturn is going to be a blog about the WWE, why not include it's B-List Show?

WWE Superstars airs on WGN American - broadcasted on the West Coast, so those of us at the East are out of luck. The show is a good place for those Superstars who don't have time to shine on the other three brands.

So last night's WWE Superstars, as do all, featured matches from all three brands. It opened up with RAW's contribution: Ted DiBiase vs. Evan Bourne. People were wondering what had happened to Legacy and why were they no shows on RAW? Well, as DiBiase explains, Cody Rhodes had to be taken to the hospital after Sunday's Hell in a Cell Match. After receiving a superkick from Michaels and a sledgehammer shot to the head, Rhodes was in no condition to compete, let alone stand. Doctors report that Rhodes will pull through and be back in the ring soon. And when DiBiase asked for a moment of silence for his partner - the crowds started booing. Now, it's one thing for the audience to boo, but what gives Jerry "The King" Lawler the right to see it as a dumb idea? It's a sign of respect, Lawler! And to note: the format of the announcers are way off. It's always been a Face Commentator and a Heel Color Commentator - when did RAW start having a Face Commentator and Color Commentator? Lawler should be siding with Legacy instead of DX. Same goes for Smackdown and their announce team. Well the match between DiBiase and Bourne was a vicious one. But as we have seen in seen in recent weeks, Bourne is now a Jobber for the People. Like it or not, Bourne is jobbing. DiBiase connected with Dream Street for the pinfall-win. And just to note: Dream Street resembles The Rock Bottom way too much! Except for the fact that DiBiase grapples with a Cobra Clutch before the side slam... but come on... it's basically the same move.

ECW's contribution: Sheamus vs. Shelton Benjamin. We see The Gold Standard wrapped up in heavy bandages from the assault caused by Sheamus prior to his match 2 weeks ago. Now, this is the first official match that these two have had against one another. Except it wasn't much of a match, but an all out street fight. Sheamus failed to adhere to the referee's 5 count; thus, granting Shelton Benjamin with the win via disqualification.

And the final match was SmackDown's contribution: Cryme Tyme w/Eve vs. The Hart Dynasty. Prior to the match, The Hart Dynasty was interviewed by ECW's Josh Matthews. Let's just say that The Hart Dynasty are terrible at cutting promos. I understand that Natalya is suppose to be the mouthpiece of the group, but when the other two start speaking... that's when you realize that the New Generation Harts do not hold a candle to their family's legacy. The match had Tyson and Davey trying to execute the Hart Attack and then Davey trying to go for the Sharp Shooter - but both attempts failed. And I'm glad the moves failed, because the Harts have a lot potential to be the top of the industry, and moves like Hart Attack and the Sharp Shooter would be great crowd pleasers in ppv calibur matches. It's sad that after all the Harts did to try to win the match, it was through Eve's interference that Shad picked up the win.

Hardcore Match on Friday Night?; Khali Gains Momentum; JeriShow Steals Victory

The opening match was a Bellfast Brawl... not another one. Do you realize that a Bellfast Brawl is just a street fight?

It's only called Bellfast because Finlay's hometown is Bellfast, Northern Ireland.

Why must we, the WWE Universe, be subjected to a Bellfast Brawl?

As my DVR fast forwarded through the match - I paused - because Finlay grabbed hold of a steel chair and attacked Knox with it.

Huh? That's right, a steel chair! But Mike Knox overpowered the Irishman and a trash can comes into play.

Finlay avoided Knox from the crushing blows of the can.

Then... a table is brought into the ring by the bearded giant.

Steel chair, trash can, table? This isn't ECW.

Yet, a hellacious mid-air collision renders them both nearly unconscious - But it was Finlay that instinctively hooked the leg of Mike Knox and gained the victory.

The following match was DH Smith of The Hart Dynasty vs. The Great Khali.

Now, I've mentioned before that the Hart Dynasty have what it takes to become a dominate force in the WWE. The problem is... they have no personality.

Sure, Natalya acts as the mouth piece from time to time, but the WWE is not just about skills. This is Sports Entertainment - you need impressive mic skills to go over big in this business.

Kane proved on WWE Superstars in a singapore cane match against Jimmy Wang Yang (yeah, I know - he's not released) that he has all the momentum going into the match. Something hilarious Grisham mentioned about the match - Kane knocked Jimmy Wang Yang back to Asia. I could not believe Todd said that.

The DH Smith and Khali match appeared to be a squash match, until we found out seconds later that it was an ambush.

Kane attacked Khali from behind - But a Khali Chop and the Punjabi Plunge knocks Kane out!

And yes, the WWE Universe will once again be forced to watch Khali and Kane fight - but this time they through Singapore canes into the mix. Why not something crazy, like a Tables match? I'd like to see a Giant go through a table, How about you?

The Unified Tag Team Champions - not faring so well with loses on RAW - entered the arena with their awesome new entrance theme. A tag team match against Cryme Tyme - might as well call it an exhibition match.

JTG getting the upper hand on Jericho at the start of the match - causes Y2J to lose his cool. Especially, when Shad Gaspard - taking a page from The Ultimate Warrior - executes a Gorilla Press on Jericho.

Shad also tries to even his strength with Big Show through flying uppercuts that knock the Big Show flat on his back.

But, when JTG pulls a Shelton Benjamin, a Shawn Michaels, as he wills his way back into the ring by holding unto the top rope - He is Knocked Out by Big Show with a hellacious Knock Out Punch!

Jericho picks up the win, turning their luck around as they gain momentum into this Sunday's ppv match as the defend the Unified Tag Team Titles against MVP and Mark Henry.

But if we have learned anything about the match - MVP and Mark Henry know that the key to winning the titles is to isolate Jericho and avoid the knock out punch by Big Show.

MVP Slams Swagger; Jeri-Show Stops Cryme Tyme; The Big Red Machine Triumphs

The next match was “The All American-American” Jack Swagger vs. “Montel Vontavious Porter” MVP.

Prior to the match, the two competitors were interviewed by ECW commentator, Josh Matthews. When asked how each would fare in the match-up, Swagger responded that he was better and at least does not have a criminal record; MVP retorted that after tonight, he would take him back to school.

MVP may have been the longest reigning United States Champion back on Smackdown, but Jack Swagger became the ECW Champion after four months with the WWE.

However, it was street smarts that gave MVP the win over Swagger as he executed with the Play Maker.

These two superstars are the future of RAW and seeing as WWE is in crisis mode because of the lack of depth in their RAW main event matches – look no further because Jack Swagger and MVP are ready to become the new faces of RAW.

Ever since winning the #1 contendership match against The Hart Dynasty – Cryme Tyme has been on a role. Especially since JTG pinned Chris Jericho in one-on-one match-up! However, their luck started to change when JTG tapped out to Big Show in their one-on-one – But let’s face it, the Big Show is a Colossal Giant that cannot be taken down by either JTG or Shad Gaspard.

Cryme Tyme were even on the side of the losing team in the six-man tag team match on the last Smackdown prior to SummerSlam.

This match marked their second tag team title match – the first being against Priceless for the World Tag Team Titles, and it ended the same way.

Cryme Tyme actually impressed a lot of people by being able to stand toe to toe with the JeriShow combination – but Jericho and Show are more experienced in a WWE ring than the Word-Up crew.

Some may call what they did cheating – I call it team work. With Big Show knocking out Gaspard and JTG submitting to The Walls of Jericho, it was all over.

Congrats on Jericho and Big Show on retaining their titles because together they are the best in the world at what they do.

Next was the battle of the giants – no, not the football team, but two real giants.

Kane entered the ring in the glow of the red lights, while Khali entered with his brother Runjin Singh.

The match up was actually quite dull, a repeat of the snooze-fest that was their match up in Wrestlemania 23.

Kane prevailed after catching Khali off guard when he held Singh hostage.

Singh proved to be a distraction and a liability that caused Khali to lose the match. Kane went for a low drop kick and a destructive DDT.

Hopefully this feud can just end, unless Khali intends on learning actual wrestling moves – please WWE spare us.

WWE Should Develop: Part II - Tag Team Edition

Cryme Tyme has finally been given the push that most tag teams dream of, a title opportunity for tag team gold - but not just any tag team gold - it will be for the Unified Tag Team Championships at Summerslam.

Cryme Tyme qualified against The Hart Dynasty in a #1 Conteder's Match for the right to face Chris Jericho and The Big Show at Summerslam. The two facing each other is really not a big surprise seeing as there is only three tag teams - the other being Rhodes and DiBiase.

This was surprisingly a decent match, even if Tyson and Davy were afraid to mix it up with Gaspard in the ring.

The most impressive feat was from JTG picking up the win with what he calls "The Shout-Out" - Diving Corkscrew Neckbreaker.

This wouldn't be Cryme Tyme's first title match: they once contended for the World Tag Team Titles at Unforgiven 2008 against Rhodes and DiBiase; yet, they have never won gold.

The team that Cryme Tyme will be facing is Chris Jericho, the Greatest in the World Today, and The Big Show, the World's Largest Athlete - combined, they have held 40 WWE Titles, and frankly, it would be a major upset if Cryme Tyme steals a win at Summerslam.

As for the team of Jericho and Show, it's no Edge but you cannot deny that Big Show is one tag team partner that can eliminate the competition. As for their entrance theme: it's really bad. It is obvious that WWE is trying to recreate the Rated-RKO feel of mixing entrance music - but it's not working.

Best of luck to Cryme Tyme in the most important match of their lives.

Hart Dynasty, there is no pop in the crowd for these guys. What should be a continuation to the Hart Family Legacy is slowly turning into a disaster. Tyson Kid on ECW was considered to be getting the push after he broke DJ Gabriel's undefeated streak and continued as the undefeated one. But during a regular match with Finlay, when D.H. Smith returned after a year at FCW - the WWE Universe got to see The Hart Attack utilized against Finlay. Yet, that was it, the move was only used once! That finisher was first done by Natalya's father - Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and her uncle Bret "The Hitman" Hart. What the Hart Dynasty needs is more wins, a better entrance into the ring, more interfering, more smack talk, and reasons to hate them because they are heels - not be annoyed by them. The biggest mistake was drafting Hart Dynasty over to Smackdown - they needed more time to develop in a smaller environment.

NEW TAG TEAMS MUST BE FORMED!

On ECW, it's pretty clear that Vladimir and Ezekiel will be forming a new tag team. It's a case of who's better than who - as for two weeks now - both Kozlov and Jackson have tried to show off their devastating finishing moves on pathetic little jobbers. Both men are intimidating and both have scored outmatched victories for several weeks on ECW. It'll only be a matter of time before Kozlov and Jackson start combining the Ura-nage and The Iron Curtain to become a dominating force in Sports Entertainment. This strange combination of countries is similar to Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik, which the two did capture the WWE Tag Team titles at the first Wrestlemania in 1985. Kozlov and Jackson would work well together - but first they have to prove that they can coincide in the ring together.

With Chris Masters resigning back with the WWE, it's time that he capture his first WWE Title, and what better than the Unified Tag Team Titles? And what can be even better than "The Masterpiece" teaming up with "The All-American-American" Jack Swagger. Imagine the combination of rendering an opponent unconscious with the Master Lock and then being destroyed with The Gut-Wrench Powerbomb! The duo would be a mixture of physical brawn and technical perfection. The two are arrogant in their abilities, just like Jericho and Show are in their credibility.

Tomorrow night on RAW, Triple H will be taking on Rhodes and DiBiase in a 2-on-1 Handicapped match, but it may be a set up for the return of "The Heart-Break Kid" Shawn Michaels. While Randy Orton takes on John Cena for the WWE Title at Summerslam - the rest of Legacy may have their hands full with the reformation of D-Generation X. In numerous Summerslam ads, it features Shawn Michaels - and it does seem like that time for Michaels to return from hiatus and be a part of the Biggest Party of the Summer.

The WWE is desparetely trying to make Summerslam into the next Wrestlemania with FanAxxess and all that jazz, but a night with DX would really boost up ppv sales. The last time DX headlined a pay-per-view was at New Year's Revolution 2007. Strangely, DX's popularity and recognition as one of the Greatest Tag Teams comes as a shock seeing as they never held Tag Team gold as a unit. It is possible that DX may challenge Jericho and Show for the Unified Tag Team Titles - making it the first tag team gold that they have held together.

Prestige is once again brought back to the Tag Team Titles - being held by multi-time World Champions - it only seems fair that the opposing tag teams hold the same accolades as the current title holders.

Shaq Clocks In on Monday Night RAW

This week's guest host is the fifteen-time NBA All-Star, and recognized as the Most Dominate NBA Player of all time, Shaquille O'Neal.

Shaq, immediately feeling comfortable in the squared-circle, announced a "Beat the Clock Challenge" to determine Randy Orton's opponent at Summerslam. The rules for Beat the Clock are simple: Each competitor will have timed matches, and who ever gets the best time will go on to face the WWE Champion. The five competitors are as follows: Triple H, MVP, Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, and John Cena.

Yet, it wouldn't be long until Shaq would be interrupted by One-Half of the Unified Tag Team Champions, Chris Jericho. Jericho is a class act and not afraid of anyone as he stood face to chest of the 7'1" NBA All-Star.

"When I heard that the Most Dominate Player in NBA History was hosting RAW, I automatically assumed it was Kobi Bryant" - Chris Jericho

Shaq, in retrospect to an accurate accusation, called him Christina and kissed him on the forehead. Two reactions to this encounter: Either Shaq really loves Chris Jericho; or he's under the impression that the WWE is a Looney Toons Production.

As the action heated up in the ring - aggressively, not romantically - the other half of the Unified Tag Team Champions, The Big Show decided to pay Shaq a visit. One thing you have to respect about Chris Jericho, he may be arrogant, but anyone affliated with him will dress like a champion - as Big Show came out sporting a nice three-piece suit. Shaq humored the WWE Universe by challenging the Big Show to a match - Shaq may have the height, but he cannot go toe-to-toe with the colossal strength of The Big Show. However, Shaq, believing he's gotten the better of the two, issued a main event match: Cryme Tyme versus the Unified Tag Team Champions (Non-Title) with Shaquille O'Neal as the Special Enforcer.

In an interview conducted by Michael Cole, Shaq mentioned that he and Hornswoggle went to high school together, and that Honswoggle's always been hyper. - For some reason I just found this funny. Then after Hornswoggle made a mini-slam dunk, Michael Cole ruins it by saying that was, "Shaq-a-licious." If that wasn't bad enough, Cole had the nerve to show his face in the announcing table after making such a fool of himself.

Shaq was then seen playing scrabble with "The Italian Stallion" - Nope... it's just Santino Marella. Shaq appeared rather calm, seeing as he'll be the enforcer for a tag team match that included the Largest Athlete in the World along with the Best in the World at what he does.

The segment continued with a visit from Cryme Tyme, insuring that they would win because they do what they have to do, because its all about championships, looking good, and that Money-Money - Shaq adds in - Yeah-Yeah! Until Santion Marella, taking over the job of Jesse, or Slam Master J, this show, starts rapping - such a mood killer, but funny.

The main event match was nothing short but zero purpose for Shaq being the enforcer. He enforced nothing! He blatantly interferred with the match by pulling JTG's leg over to Shad for the tag - the ref should've called on it, but who really wants to mess with a 7ft basketball player?

It wasn't until The Big Show disqualified himself after refusing to leave the ring, untagged. He delivered punishment to Cryme Tyme and called Shaq out.

Shaq ripped his WWE Ref shirt and got into the ring - very Hulk Hogan of him.

The two stood face to face - as Big Show went for the chokeslam, people started to get worried - But out of nowhere, Shaq goes for the chokeslam as well. These two giants test each others strengths seeing which one would give out, which one would dominate - until Cryme Tyme ruined the moment and started attacking Show. Then Shaq delievered a clotheline which sent Big Show out of the ring.

And for some reason Shaq ran up the ramp after them - but the broadcast cut after that.

This week was alot better that last. Shaquille O'Neal as the host actually scheduled matches and came out into the ring - unlike ZZ Top who recorded segments for the whole show and came out onto the ramp for a whole two minutes. Shaq is an intimedating guy, unlike the hilariously small sized Seth Green who threw himself into a match alongside Triple H and John Cena against Legacy. Shaq did a good job and I wouldn't mind seeing either him or Seth Green host again in the future.

Eve Torres to Become a Top Diva, Hopefully

Ever since winning the 2007 Diva Search, Eve Torres received her wrestling license in Kentucky, and has tried to square off in the ring with worthy adversaries.

However, she's submitted to Michelle McCool, and has had numerous matches with Layla.

Torres' matches with Layla were painful to watch - since Layla cannot wrestle.

Eve has tried to execute a series of drop kicks - but Layla's 5'2" height causes a serious problem, especially for a tall newbie such as Torres.

Luckily the feud ended recently on an episode of WWE Superstars where, after Eve pinned her, they both shook hands.

Cryme Tyme has been feuding with the Hart Dynasty for weeks - with Natalya usually a deciding factor.

Well, Cryme Tyme has decided to enroll Eve Torres as part of the "Word Up" crew.

Eve publicly stated her role in Cryme Tyme when she shoved Natalya unto the floor during Cryme Tyme's match with Tyson and Smith.

Torres was then able to go one on one with the daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, during a Gendered Tag Team Match, last Friday Night.

Eve valiantly fought through drop kicks and a handspring moonsault.

Yet, since her cornered moonsault took way to long to set up, her inexperience cost her dearly.

She was hit with a scoop suplex and an echoing discus clothesline - a clothesline so powerful that the opponent flips.

Even though Eve lost to Natalya - this is a great opportunity to work with an experienced wrestler.

Sure, Natalya has not won any belts or have contested in many matches - but Natalya is the only woman to ever train and graduate from the infamous Hart Family "Dungeon."

Most people become great after training against worthy opponents. For instance: Melina improved after her battles with Beth Phoenix; The Miz improved by teaming with John Morrison; and MVP became more aggressive and sound in the ring through his matches with the late Chris Benoit.

You can only become as good as the people you fight - if Eve continues to battle with Natalya, one day she'll become a formidable contender for the Women's Title.
