SmackDown Results: 3/26/10 - Beth Phoenix Excuses Vickie Guerrero

Beth Phoenix has had her eyes set on Michelle McCool's Women's Title since arriving to SmackDown early in the fall. But a rising Mickie James took the spotlight, leaving Beth to side with McCool to take on her only threat, at the time.

Yet, with Mickie James taking time off to promote her debut country album, Beth Phoenix was certain that her time to challenge for the Women's Title had come. That was until Divas GM, Vickie Guerrero denied the Glamazon the opportunity. Instead of continuing to take a back seat, Beth Phoenix created an enemy within Vickie Guerrero, which culminated into this match between Beth and Vickie.

Much like the evil streak of Mr. McMahon, Vickie altered the match in her favor, making it into a 5-on-1 handicap match. Vickie Guerrero was joined by Women's Champion, Michelle McCool, Divas' Champion, Maryse, Layla, and Alicia Fox. Let's face it, Beth Phoenix is the most dominate "diva" in all of the WWE; heck, Beth Phoenix is the most dominating women's wrestler in all the WWE. And for Todd Grisham to comment, "She's dominate, but not that dominate," when introduced to her four other competitors, one doesn't simply know how dominate Beth can be. In addition, Beth Phoenix is a women's wrestler competing against two models, a former teacher, a dancer, and the widow of Eddie Guerrero, how hard can it be?

The match started off with Layla over confident of Phoenix's odds of winning the match, but in all honesty, Beth can tear her apart. Then during a Guerrilla Press lift, McCool started nudging the head of Beth Phoenix. You might as well be poking a bear or sticking your hand in a tank of piranhas, because Beth helicopter spinned Layla to knock down McCool. After that all hell broke loose as Beth didn't want to wait for the tags, but threw them into the ring and double clotheslined divas 2 at a time. But the numbers game was too much, and a simple kick to the face did her in for the 3-count, much like what happened to Orton on RAW. And just like McMahon, Vickie was tagged in to cover Beth for that 3-count.

And if things couldn't get any worse for Beth Phoenix, McCool suggested that Vickie execute the Frog Splash over the Glamazon. Indeed, it would have been an odd tribute to her late-husband, but the ribbiting splash was held off as Mickie James, Kelly-Kelly, Eve Torres, and Gail Kim cleared the ring. Which it has been announced on wwe.com that all 9, plus Vickie, will compete in a 10 Diva Tag Match at WrestleMania.

And the coup de grâce, Beth got some payback on Vickie Guerrero by accidently ripping off Vickie's pants. Now, I know this is not the wardrobe malfunction that men dream of when watching the Divas wrestle, but it was possibly the most hilarious thing on television. WWE is TV-PG, really? Because I believe that her grandma panties which read "Excuse Me" in bedazzled jewels just blinded the WWE Universe. Beth Phoenix, much like Melina, has crossed over from heel to fan favorite in miraculous fashion.

As for the WrestleMania match, whether it is a dark match or simply five minutes, it beats any Divas match in the past 3 years. There is no Playboy gimmicked matches, Lumber jills, or spoof Divas Battle Royal, it will be 5 on 5 in a clean match.

RAW Results: 2/22/10 - WrestleMania Taking Shape

Evan Bourne's victory overshadowed by Legacy's downfall

Just this past Thursday on WWE Superstars, Evan Bourne prevailed by pinning Chavo Guerrero in tag team action; then on RAW, Evan Bourne defied the odds by pinning Cody Rhodes of Legacy in a six-man tag match. Yet, what should have been a great moment for the "Highlight Reel" Evan Bourne, became overshadowed by chants of RKO.

The downfall of Legacy may have finally occurred after Randy Orton turned on his brethren, Cody Rhodes, with a rope hung DDT. Orton then abandoned the match and was followed by Ted DiBiase Jr., demanding an explanation; which he responded with an RKO. Earlier on, DiBiase and Rhodes were talking about "a plan," most likely a scheme to turn on Orton; but as the leader of Legacy, Orton is always 10 steps ahead.

Divas' Champion Applicant: no wrestling experience required

Apparently the Divas' Title means that no wrestling ability is required, as the championship match between Maryse and Gail Kim was an embarrassment to women's wrestling. Gail Kim, an actual women's wrestler, delivered on every offensive maneuver within that match, while Maryse simply threw Gail to the ropes and set up for the French-Kiss. How can the WWE award it's championship title to a person who cannot wrestle? Wait... that's right. This is the same company that awarded it's WWE Title to Batista, and at one point, awarded the World Heavyweight Title to The Great Khali. Sadly, Gail Kim sold her soul for a WWE endorsed paycheck to job to models.

After having the Divas' Title match postponed, thanks to Vickie Guerrero, the final round of the Divas' Championship Tournament was decided on RAW. For weeks leading up to this match, Maryse had been trying to draw a mutual respect between the two, but Gail Kim fired back - in French - telling Maryse that she understood every mean thing she disguised in French, and was not fooling anybody. This confrontation, this past Sunday, lead to Gail Kim loosing an impromptu tag team match - turned Handicap - when Maryse was unwilling to tag in.

Maryse was awarded the vacant Divas' title, made so by Melina who tore her ACL back in January, and became the first-ever two-time Divas' Champion.

New RAW Superstar Christian qualifies for Money in the Bank

Two weeks ago, then-ECW Champion Christian, acting as a future free agent, had an amazing encounter with then-WWE Champion Sheamus; and this week it was confirmed, after winning a Money in the Bank qualifying match against Carlito, that Christian has signed on with the RAW brand. A year ago, people thought that Christian's return did not have quite an impact because of his emergence on ECW, those days of extreme are over because Christian is on the A-brand of wrestling shows.

WWE had recently announced on wwe.com that on July 18, a pay-per-view entitled Money in the Bank would air. This news led to many wrestling fans wondering whether or not there would be a Money in the Bank Ladder Match at this year's WrestleMania. Money in the Bank has been a central part of WrestleMania since it's concept at WrestleMania 21, witnessing Edge as it's inaugural Mr. Money in the Bank winner. Luckily, WWE has recently scrapped the MitB pay-per-view concept, along with the rest of the pay-per-view summer lineup after WrestleMania.

Having competed in the 2005 and 2009 Money in the Bank ladder matches, Christian is an excellent star competitor leading into WrestleMania.

The Miz dominates MVP in every way

At Elimination Chamber, The Miz successfully defended his United States Title against MVP in yet another impromptu title defense; and would yet again, along with The Big Show, successfully defend the Unified Tag Team Titles against MVP and Mark Henry on RAW. The Miz, who will be mentoring Daniel Bryan on NXT, has not only been successful at capturing and defending the titles, but undertaking every challenge, scheduled or not.

The constant title defenses against MVP has grown wearisome, as WWE is forcing The Miz to defend all his titles against one man. There are a sea of mid-card opponents that would benefit from title matches against The Miz. And when will ShoMiz be making their way down to SmackDown to defend their titles against the likes of: The Hart Dynasty, Straightedge Society, Cryme Tyme, Croft and Barreta, and Hardy and Khali?

WWE Superstars Results: 2/18/10 - Bourne to Win

Evan Bourne: The Silent Highlight Reel

The veterans Chavo Guerrero and Carlito teamed up against the rookies Evan Bourne and Primo.

Throughout the match, the animosity between the two brothers were eminent, with each trying to get the upper hand on the other. Primo attempted to connect with a missal drop kick from off the top rope but was knocked down by Carlito without the referee's knowledge. Primo would certainly then inflict some much needed punishment with an array of kicks and Carlito's finisher The Backstabber.

Chavo Guerrero, who executed an impressive match, has been underutilized in the WWE for years. In this match, Chavo grounded Evan Bourne with a double wrist-clutch, followed by repeated knee stomps to the chest. As far as I can recall, I have never seen Chavo perform this move. But one person who has utilized this maneuver throughout his career is "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, or as he will be referred to by his NXT name, Daniel Bryan. Chavo has wrestled against Daniel in dark matches on RAW, so perhaps he has learned a thing or two from the young rookie. Chavo, especially with the Gory Bomb, has never looked more alive in the WWE ring.

There are very few instances when Michael Cole says something worthwhile, but his nickname for Evan Bourne may be on those lists of rarities; "The Highlight Reel" Evan Bourne. I know what you are possibly thinking, wasn't Jeff Hardy considered that, especially when appearing on every highlight reel involving ladders?

Evan Bourne needs a new gimmick if he wishes to survive the WWE, and if he were to take the initiative to wow the audience members, or be charismatic enough to call out his maneuvers, then he would have an interesting gimmick. Jeff Hardy was so successful with the fans because he had no problem accepting high risk-no reward type matches, and would proclaim to the WWE Universe of his dare-devil goals. Evan Bourne would really benefit by improving on his mic skills and hyping up the crowds. Because as of right now, Evan Bourne is a silent highlight reel, he needs to add some high-octane explosions to get the crowd going. And after pinning Chavo Guerrero with a Shooting Star Press, his future could sky rocket, if he just heeds my advice.

Gail Kim and Katie Lea: Solid Match-up

Usually when the RAW Divas hit the ring, I hit the fast forward button; but this match up between Gail Kim and Katie Lea proved of some interest to me.

Gail Kim, obviously a hell of a competitor, has been a cry for concern to the wrestling fans who watched Gail establish herself as a corner stone of the TNA Knockout division. During her first stint in the WWE, Gail Kim feuded with the likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, Jazz, Ivory, and Molly Holly, during a time when women's wrestling meant something. TNA was another feather in her cap, as she elevated even higher to make women's wrestling more enjoyable to watch than TNA's X-Division. But her recent move to the WWE in March of 2009 has not payed off, as she has been forced to compete in tag team matches and is always overlooked in a title match. Even the instant of Mickie James-Gail Kim title match turned into a flop, as Gail botched a maneuver, and Mickie further made matters worse by etching her dislike on her long face.

More recently, Gail Kim, the finalist competing for the vacant Divas' Title this Sunday, has been building momentum these past couple of weeks by defeating WWE's underutilized female wrestlers in Jillian Hall and Katie Lea.

Her match with Katie Lea proved to be a concrete physical match in which these two women avoided the pretty handstands or awkward grapple holds. Katie Lea showing the WWE Universe that she is more than a valet to her "brother" Paul, threw Gail shoulder first into the ring post. She then went to work by Irish-whipping Gail Kim shoulder-first into the turnbuckle, and following up with a side slam backbreaker. Katie Lea was able to avoid Gail's first finisher, but "Ate Defeat" with a second inverted stomp facebreaker.

Maryse, the other finalist for the vacant Divas' Title, hasn't wrestled in quite some time. But she has demonstrated to have respect for her opponent, and wishes to deliver an honest match at this Sunday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. The question is, will Maryse become a 2-time Divas' title holder, or will Gail Kim become the third woman to capture both WWE's women's titles?

Rey Mysterio: Illogical Victory

Rey Mysterio has always been the underdog in the WWE, but what if his credibility as a wrestler is becoming a little too hard to conceive? No doubt, Rey Mysterio reached the pinnacle of his Cinderella story at WrestleMania 22, when he captured the World Heavyweight Title in a Triple Threat Match, by pinning a young Randy Orton. Obviously now, Randy Orton has evolved into a super heel and a mulit-time World Champion, so Mysterio pinning Orton would no longer be considered normal, it'd be an upset.

Lately, Mysterio has forfeited his Intercontinental rematch clause, and has set his sights on the World's Title. He defeated Batista in a Cage Match for the right to challenge Undertaker at the Royal Rumble, and almost defeated the Deadman. Mysterio's credibility in those matches were solid, because Mysterio didn't have to pin Batista, only escape a cage; and as for Taker, Mysterio provided consistent offense and attacked the weak spots but he still lost.

Mysterio starts to lose credibility when he supposedly can overpower a 300-pound-plus giant in Mike Knox. Mike Knox of course has an impressive record of the most losses in the WWE, along with the longest beard, but he should not have lost to Mysterio. I understand that Mysterio has the star power, but if you get struck with a 300-pound cross body, logically you should not be able to kick out.

Last week on SmackDown, Mysterio was able to weasel a victory out of C.M. Punk by countering the GTS, but he received ample punishment from the Straightedge Society. That is the true story behind the mask, no one feels that he should have won the World Title four years ago, nor do they feel that he has a shot at defeating The Undertaker. The point of a match against Mike Knox is to showcase Mysterio's resiliency to punishment, and what he offers to the Elimination Chamber. This Sunday, Rey Mysterio doesn't necessarily have to pin Taker to capture the World Title, he just has to eliminate the last man - with the hope that the last man is not The Undertaker.

WWE Superstars Results: 1/14/10

RAW Tag Team Match. The opening match was a Mix-Gendered Tag Team Match set for one fall, the participants: Primo and Gail Kim versus Chavo Guerrero and Jillian Hall. The rules are simple, the men fight the men and the women fight the women. If a man tags in a woman, than the other woman is forced into the match to take on the woman... same rules applies for the men. Primo and Chavo started off the match and then entered the women. Gail Kim, who is a former Women's Champion, is looking to become the new Divas' Champion as she has advanced into the semi-finals of the tournament. The new Divas' Champion will be determined sometime after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Jillian Hall, the world's shortest reigning Divas' Champion, was no match for Gail Kim's quick offense, but when she tagged back in Chavo... things got interesting. As Primo was reeling on the mat, Chavo started to taunt Gail Kim, grapping her wrists and pulling her close. Gail used the opportunity to lock in the Eat Defeat maneuver, which is an inverted stomp facebreaker. Primo then rolled up Chavo for the pinfall victory. This mixed tag team was decent, because it gave a young Primo a chance to shine, and Chavo and Jillian to act on their goofy gimmicks.

Masters vs. Carlito. The following RAW match pit the other brother Colon, Carlito, against Chris Masters. For those who have not been watching RAW, Chris Master's entrance theme has changed from "The Masterpiece" to "Overdrive" by Jim Johnston. It's a steady rock beat, which I could see suited better with someone else, but what are you going to do? Carlito, prior to the match, chewed his apple, and spit in the face of Chris Masters. I don't know how smart that was, seeing as Masters decimated Carlito for the act. Chris Masters was more on point for this match, and did NOT waste valuable time with his pectoral dance. Carlito miscalculated a move, which lead to his eventual demise in the unforgiving Master Lock. Chris Masters finally chalks up a victory, and yes... Eve is still by his side.

SmackDown Tag Team Match. SmackDown did not want to let RAW have all the tag team action, so it was Team Delusional Gangstas versus Team Beards. Why have I given them these particular names? Well... Team D.G. has a former southerner resident of North Carolina, Jesse has ditched the tights for some jeans, some bling, and the only corn he deals with is corn rose. As for Jimmy Wang Yang, he's initially an Asian who believes he's a redneck cowboy. Even the great J.B.L. was offended by this persona, but I think we should all be upset over the fact that he wants to referred to as the Asian Redneck Gangsta.... talk about a personality disorder. Honestly, WWE has no idea what they are doing with these two superstars. As for Team Beards, Mike Knox, who won Beard of the Year in WWE Magazine, has a freakishly long beard that he shampoos everyday to keep it clean. And as for his partner, Charlie Haas, once a part of the World's Greatest Tag Team, has fallen off the reservation for some time now. It was said that he wanted to be released from his contract, so what did WWE do? Gave him a raise instead, as long as you stay with the company and I guess grow a beard while you are at it. At first, I thought Daivari had returned to the WWE, but it was just Charlie Haas with a beard. The match saw a better showing of athletic ability from both J and Yang, as their high flying and technical offense is impressive but deeply goes underrated. These two men managed to knock out Knox out of the ring, allowing Wang Yang to strike with the moonsault, that even The Fallen Angel Daniels would be impressed, as he got the winning pinfall over Charlie Haas.

Byron Saxon, Lame. This past Tuesday, Ezekiel Jackson was named the #1 contender for Christian's ECW Title after eliminating Kane to win the ECW Homecoming Showdown. Now, to learn from his mentor/master William Regal, Ezekiel will pin point the weaknesses of Christian. But enough about that, what really stood out of this match was the lackluster commentating of ECW's Bryon Saxton and Josh Matthews. Saxton was the new kid of the block, taking a first crack at commentating for prime-time television, but he has grown stale. Saxton was stale since the first day he walked into the land of the not-so-extreme, but he recently started adopting a heel-gimmick personality while commentating. It's usually how it goes, the commentator roots for the faces, and the color commentators hype up the heels. Yet, Josh and Bryon have no personality, it's like watching two politically correct voices trying to argue in a polite manner. It's hard to believe that Saxton wrestled over on FCW, unless I told you so, well I did. When William Regal was down flat on the canvas as Christian went for a high-risk maneuver, Saxton called it being dazed, while Matthews called it as being laid flat out. Saxton tries to hard to root for the bad guys, but in this PG world of ECW sequel, it's best not to get the kids confused. Honestly, "Just look at him" doesn't quite cut it when explaining why Ezekiel would win the ECW Title. Which, speaking of Jackson, he was ejected from the arena after doing his best Mad Dog impression. Talk about guys that have too much testosterone, Jackson was grunting and growling at Christian. I'm glad the ref pulled him out of the match, he looked as if he were going to bite Christian. Not too long after Jackson made an exit that Christian took control of the match as he avoided the Knee Trembler and Regal Stretch to finally lock in the Killswitch. The question isn't whether or not Christian will retain his title, but how will William Regal react as to his follower capturing a title that he himself could not?

I'm really not too impressed with these 1-hour segments, which is really a compilation of dark matches, tapped just to fill more WWE-TV time. It allows for the mid-carders to actually shine, but how about a new concept? Inter-brand matches? Imagine a C.M. Punk vs. Christian, or a Jack Swagger vs. Zack Ryder? So that's it for this edition of WWE Superstars, have a good night people.

WWE Superstars Results: 1/7/10

Second Contender in Divas' Tournament: The opening match was a Divas' Championship First-Round Tournament Match to determine the new Divas' Champion. It was reported this past Monday that Melina was injured at a WWE Live Event, which means she would be unable to compete, thus, the title has been vacated. Sadly, Melina was brought over on RAW solely to be the champion and enter a feud with the returning Maryse, but those plans have changed. Maryse, as expected, has already advanced in the tournament this past Monday Night after pinning the Bella Twins. This match was Gail Kim, a former Women's Champion, vs. Jillian Hall a recent Divas' Champion in her own right. Much like the first Divas' contest, this match up was less than desirable. Gail Kim, just coming off of an amazing run in TNA, returned to the WWE. She may have gotten a bigger paycheck, but she definitely did not gain better competition. Jillian Hall, possibly one of the worst excuses of a wrestler, slowed down the pace of the match. Jillian's gimmick is too cartoony and thus has impaired her wrestling craft. Jillian took to long to go into a cover, and, when she did, had her leg under the rope. No limb of any of the wrestlers can be underneath the rope during a cover, those are the rules. Jillian obviously has no understanding of her surroundings while in the ring, and fails to quickly execute her maneuvers. Her wrestling is choppy to say the least, and to give her a title win over Mickie James only to lose it five seconds later to Melina has become a footnote in the annals of the WWE. Gail Kim picked up the win, maybe she can become the top face of the RAW Divas' division.

Money Trumps Pecks. The following was Ted DiBiase Jr. against "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters w/ Eve Torres. The match was clearly a testament to the evolution of Ted DiBiase. Chris Masters may have a sculpted body, but DiBiase has amazing ring awareness, because each time Chris Masters attempted the Master lock, DiBiase would get himself to the ropes to break the hold. Despite there being some issues within Legacy, Ted DiBiase is looking more and more like a guy that can inch his way to the main event scene thanks to the guidance of Randy Orton. Chris Masters, on the other hand, is doing well for himself... a babyface turn... dancing peck routine... and Eve Torres. However, he has been losing more matches than winning. Chris Masters, incorporating the dancing pecks, tries to intimidate his opponents, but personally, the routine seems out of place. And a sighting of old school was seen in this match... no, not Undertaker's tight rope trick... DiBiase attempted to lock in his father's finisher The Million Dollar Dream, while Masters executed Hogan's Guillotine Leg Drop. Ted DiBiase picked up the win after forcing out of the Master lock and striking with Dream Street.

ECW Match. The following match was Caylen Croft w/ Trent Barreta against Yoshi Tatsu w/ Goldust. The friendship between Tatsu and Dust is merely linguistical... Tatsu learns English while Dust learns Japanese. Croft, recently coming over to ECW, did well in his first singles match. Yoshi attempted a hurricanrana but fell flat because Croft retained a strong grip while on the turnbuckle. Still not to impressed with Croft and Barreta, but at least their entrance song has changed to a generic rock theme rather than that circus one. Yoshi picked up the win with his Roundhouse Kick.

Shillelagh Tops Beard. The main event was Finlay versus Mike Knox. The match was nothing special from all their previous encounters. Knox and Finlay have a set fighting style which is to punch, kick, and claw their way to the finish. Honestly, this should not have been the main event... the DiBiase-Masters match expressed wrestling a lot better than this. Fit Finlay is a 51 year old man who, despite a short run as the United States Champion years back, WWE has no interest in ever putting another title around his waste. Heck, after the aborted McMahon's illegitament child story line, Finlay was forced to change his gimmick after being relevealed that it was his son. Finlay's entrance music started out "My Name is Finlay, and I love to fight." Not anymore... Finlay has fallen far from the reservation and does not look too intimidating. Mike Knox cannot be taken seriously either because, despite having a new gimmick, he doesn't win any matches. He went through a trilogy of matches with Kane and lost all of them. This match up is considered below mid-card in my standards. Mike Knox attempted to cheat after removing the protective padding on the turnbuckle, and dropped it in the middle of the ring. The referee sees the padding and does not look to even attempt to fasten it back on... he just tosses it out. Well, Finlay only needed a second to strike with his shillelagh and he picked up the win. That's another thing, Finlay matches usually end with a shillelagh strike, when has he ever won a fair match? Wrestlers tend to watch videos of the competition and themselves in order to better themselves... but what about the referees? Shouldn't they catch on and think, 'Hey, we shouldn't let Finlay bring that shillelagh anymore. Heck, what do I know?

WWE Superstars Results: WWE Hypes Up The Wrong Superstars; Kelly Kelly Gets a Pop

This weekend is WWE's newest pay-per-view, Bragging Rights, where the best from SmackDown and RAW determine the superior show. Last night's WWE Superstars consisted of 3 matches, 2 of which have something to do with Sunday, while the ECW match is solely there to remind everyone that ECW is still around.

RAW Match: Kelly Kelly vs. Gail Kim. These two divas will be a part of the 3-on-3 tag team match at Bragging Rights. Joined by Divas' Champion, Melina, they will be fighting for the RAW division; while, Women's Champion, Michelle McCool, Natalya, and Beth Phoenix will be defending the honor of the SmackDown Brand. Surprisingly, Kelly got a big pop from the audience over Gail Kim. The WWE Universe is really rallying behind the Gymnastic Beauty. Gail Kim has really gone down in her wrestling reputation since joining the WWE, but that's the risk you take when you get paid the big bucks. Gail Kim lost miserably to a very cheery Kelly.

ECW Match: Tommy Dreamer and Goldust vs. Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson. For weeks it has been the same spiel, and it has always ended the same. I started thinking, wouldn't it be cool if Jackson had... I dunno, an actual gimmick? It would be awesome if Jackson was like an Apolo Creed. I'm not talking about wearing the trunks like TNA's Consequences Creed, but to have the respect, charisma, and swiftness of Apolo. Now, the Ruthless Round Table has won numerous times, but last night was different. Finally, Dreamer and Dust cheated their way to victory. Even Shawn Michaels has admitted to not always doing the right thing, but you do whatever you can to win in this business, especially if you are at a disadvantage. But of course after you cheat it is smart to run away instead of celebrating. Kozlov destroyed both of them with the Iron Curtain as punishment for pinning him.

SmackDown Match: Matt Hardy and R-Truth vs. Eric Escobar and Drew McIntyre. Both Escobar and McIntyre initially won qualifying matches against Hardy and Truth in separate matches to get on the SmackDown team. Now, after RAW, when both teams for this Sunday stood against each other in the ring, McMahon noticed the shift in power over on RAW. Seriously, it wasn't until both teams were in the ring to notice that newbies such as Escobar and McIntyre could possibly stand a chance against 2 giants?? News has gone around that the SmackDown Team, minus the captains, have been all changed. WWE decided to hype up McIntyre and Escobar to give them credibility, but, as we'll find out on SmackDown, they won't be on the SmackDown Team this Sunday. It will actually be Matt Hardy and Truth that will take their places. I guess the decision was made after this match. The match was pretty decent, but the opposing team doesn't seem too impressive. And... how often will Vickie be there to distract the referee? Seems like a pretty lame gimmick that Eric Esssssssssssssscobar is pulling.

Two New Divas Champions; Full Tri-Branded Divas Trade

Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell hosted RAW, and a strong minded host at that. She even issued a Divas Title Match against Jillian Hall?

Divas Title Match: Mickie James vs. Jillian Hall. Now, Jillian has been with the WWE for a long time, going through 2 gimmicks but never winning a title, until last night. In a major upset, Jillian pinned Mickie James to win her first title. The match was somewhat decent, except there was a lot of ring rust with Jillian, seeing as she rarely wrestles. But the look in her eyes and the spontaneity of it all was exciting to watch.

Until, Nancy announced that she had spoken with the other GMs about a Tri-Branded Divas Trade. And issued another Divas Title match against RAW's newest member, Melina!

2nd Divas Title Match: Jillian Hall vs Melina. Jillian did not want to fight because she just won her first title. But in a matter of seconds, Melina's hand was raised in victory as the NEW Divas Champion, the 3rd Diva in history to win both the Women's and Divas Titles.

The list of the Divas Trade is as follows:

Melina and Eve Torres: SmackDown to RAW
The Bellas Twins: ECW to RAW
Mickie James and Beth Phoenix: RAW to SmackDown
Rosa Mendes: RAW to ECW

Obviously, because of the trade, Mickie had to drop the belt to Melina, but because both are faces, an interim Divas Heel Champ had to be named, poor Jillian.

Beth Phoenix was not to thrilled of her new trade to SmackDown and took it on Maria Menounos. Santino Marella then issued a match pitting these 2 together - now since when did Santino become a GM?

Divas Tag Team Match: Maria Menounos, Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim vs. Beth Phoenix, Alicia Fox, and Rosa Mendes. Gail Kim started the match, until Maria wanted in, in which she showed off the wrestling moves thought by Triple H, a few kicks and arm drags. But when Beth came into the ring, Maria was in trouble but managed to bring Beth on one knee. Kelly Kelly won the match by pinning Rosa Mendes. In reality, Maria trained at a wrestling school to learn the basics before going into the match.

Congrats to Jillian Hall for becoming a Divas Champion, but better luck next time after losing it to Melina.

Gail Kim Botches Title Match; Mickie James Upset over Finishers

What should have been a dream match for most WWE fans became a nightmare in the Divas Divison.

There are very few divas in the WWE that can actually be classified as real wrestlers – Mickie James, being one of them, is undoubtedly one of the best female wrestlers of her time – capturing the Women’s Title 4-times and becoming the second Diva to capture both the Women’s and Divas’ Titles.

Over in TNA, Gail Kim, a former WWE Women’s Champion, was dominating the Knock Out Division and became the inaugural TNA Knock Out Champion.

It was always a question lingering in our minds – Who would win if these two would ever get into the ring?

When the internet news spread of Gail Kim signing a contract with the WWE, it seemed like a real possibility. But she finally returned to the WWE, she was signed to the Smackdown Brand, while Mickie James was on RAW.

Luckily, The Donald Trump Trade changed the playing field and brought Gail Kim to Monday Nights.

Last week, Gail Kim finally got her chance to contend for the Divas’ Title after pinning Rosa Mendes in a Fatal Four-way. (Other Competitors: Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly)

Unlike the overkill of matches between John Cena and Triple H – these two titans are technically sound in the ring and take the craft of wrestling seriously. This title match, issued by RAW’s guest host Freddy Prince Jr., promised to be a real treat to anyone who still bothers to follow women’s wrestling.

The match started off great – with double leg drops and double crossbodies – Mickie James and Gail Kim seemed evenly matched.

It would take a slight mistake in order to capitalize on the match. However, that mistake was more of a botch when Gail Kim went for a top rope cross body and fell on her face.

Mickie went to end the match with her standing tornado DDT – The Mick DDT – but Gail “countered.” Actually, Gail could not follow through with the rest of the match as the bump left her dazed and confused.

In wrestling, a finisher takes as much effort from the opponent as it does on the attacker to execute a move.

Mick, devastated by the failed DDT, attempted to salvage the match with her other finisher, the Mick Kick.

Yet, Gail Kim failed to react to the kick – and Mick’s finisher was botched again thanks to Gail Kim, who was unresponsive for the rest of the match.

Mick finally went for a simple forearm to knock Gail Kim down and stood over her in disappointment before going for the cover.

When the bell rung, you could see the frustrated look in Mickie’s eyes as her first title defense turned disaster.

It’s hard to sell Women’s wrestling in to a predominately male dominated industry – but to botch up the match - further proving that wrestling is indeed fake - was not something Mickie wanted to portray as the Divas Champion.

A lot of pressure rests on the shoulders of the WWE title holders because they have to sell the fact that they are champions for the simple fact that they are the best that the industry has to offer.

It was a shame that this match was the worst card of the night.

Hopefully these two will have a rematch because: the night Gail Kim and Mickie James enter the squared circle in a title match should not be the night when they couldn’t put on a hell of a match.

Mickie James worked hard to become the Divas Champion and Gail Kim busted herself in that title match – WWE GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE!

Sgt. Slaughter Salutes America in Canada

Monday Night RAW kicked off with Randy Orton center ring - responding to the queries around the locker room and the WWE Universe that Orton is afraid to face John Cena.

Orton proclaims that he is not afraid, and as for Piven taking his side last week because Orton bullied him - it's because he can.

John Cena made his explosive entrance - when just 3 years ago at Unforgiven, Cena was booed by all the Canadians - and confronted Orton with a decent promo.

Cena's idea of a promo is to exaggerate and to say things really loud. And as the two starred down each other's face - The Unified Tag Team Champions made their presence felt.

As Big Show tried to let know that he is the most intimidating person in all the WWE, all that could be heard was all of the arena chanting "Y-2-J!"

Much like Unforgiven 2006 with Edge as the Canadian Hero, Chris Jericho - despite all the things he has said to the WWE Universe - was the hero tonight.

Chris Jericho revealed that he had a meeting with Sgt. Slaughter and that tonight he would go one on one with John Cena - while The Big Show took on Randy Orton.

On Monday Night, Michael Cole and Lawler asked the WWE Universe the Question: Who did Sgt. Slaughter defeat to win his first WWE Championship? The Choices were: "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, or Hulk Hogan.

The answer was obvious - Ultimate Warrior. For those who have no clue - At Wrestlemania VI - "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan fought Ultimate Warrior in a Champions vs Champions Match, with the winner walking away with both the WWE Championship and the Intercontinental.

The Match saw Ultimate Warrior being passed the torch as he walked away with both titles; he was set to become the next big thing in professional wrestling - however he was demoted by losing it to Sgt. Slaughter so that Hulk Hogan could win back the strap at Wrestlemania VII.

Interestingly enough, Sgt. Slaughter was an anti-American at the time when he won the strap - losing it to the "Real American" Hulk Hogan.

After the Divas match that saw Gail Kim as the new #1 Contender for Mickie James' Divas Title, Sgt. Slaughter finally appeared to show respect to the north and salute the Canadian Flag - it was all nice and sincere until the Canadian flag showed a big "Don't Pledge" symbol appeared on the flag.

Instead, Slaughter saluted and said the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. If anyone knows how to get a rise out of Canadians - it's a die-hard American.

Later on, Slaughter apologies to the audience and tries to make it up by getting Celine Dion to sing The Canadian Anthem. However, he couldn't book the Canadian Singer, so instead he booked Jillian, dressed in the red-white-blue of Uncle Sam - singing the Canadian Anthem. On behalf of the entire WWE Universe - we could've done without the "singing."

Michael Cole actually said something funny, in regards to Jillian singing, "She may not be Celine Dion, but this is the Titanic." - Good job, Cole (You may never hear me say that again so savor this moment).

What really got the Canadians riled up is when Slaughter, once again apologizing, announced that he has found a special guest - The Best who ever was, ever is, and ever will be - the screaching sounds of Bret Hart's theme played throughout the arena; yet, once again, Slaughter didn't deliver the Canadian hero - but he found a replacement, HO! "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.

We could've bet money that Duggan, waving the American Flag, would've made an appearance under Slaughter's command.

By the end of RAW, Sgt. Slaughter announced the main event for next week - The Unified Tag Team Champions, Chris Jericho and The Big Show will take on the team of John Cena and the WWE Champion, Randy Orton!

Many may not recall, but the team of Randy Orton and John Cena is one of the best combinations in ages! About a year or so back, Orton and Cena were contesting for the WWE Title (not much as changed) and GM William Regal forced the two to face off against the entire RAW roster. Each time Cena set up for the Attitude Adjustment - Orton would go for the RKO. The two annihilated most of the roster, until they retaliated all at once.

It's a beautiful combination, Cena sets up the opponent in the Standing FireMan's Carry takeover (a.k.a. The Attitude Adjustment) and Orton strikes with the RKO. They executed the same maneuver tonight on Chris Jericho, after double clotheslining Big Show over the top rope.

Thank goodness Sgt. Slaughter created the Main Event for next week, because next week Monday Night Host is Freddy Prince Jr.

How, How, How... did ZZ Top do on Monday Night RAW?

After Orton issued a handicapped Tag Team match of Legacy versus John Cena and Triple H - the WWE Universe were introduced to ZZ Top, Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons.

Huge fans of the WWE, they once recorded an entrance theme for Nicholas "Wild Thing" Bauer - at Stone Cold Steve Austin's request; they are the first ever co-hosts of Monday Night RAW and were ecstatic to be running the show tonight.

Santino Marella arrived on the scene calling them "Zzzzzzz Top!" and switching their first names - Dusty Gibbons and Billy Hill; but still claiming to be a huge fan of theirs. In honor of his "devotion," Hill fitted Santino with an honorary chest-length, ZZ Top signature, beard, and a pair of "Cheap Sunglasses" to complete the trio for tonight. Santino looked more like a Muppet from Sesame Street - with an oversized beard and shades - quite comedic.

It was also nice of ZZ Top to let Santino play - even if it was air guitar... with an actual guitar.

After the Big Show proved his dominance in the after match of the six man tag team match - ZZ Top plugged in their summer tour with Aerosmith - how did we not see that one coming...

When ZZ Top almost proved to be completely worthless, Jericho showed up to meet the icons of Rock n' Roll and requested a jamming session - seeing as he is the lead singer of his rock band, Fozzy.

Hill and Gibbons had no idea who Fozzy were, but they did know that they wanted Chris Jericho to face off against "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry. And when asked "How?" The Trio started playing "La Grange" in response to Jericho's "How, how, how."

If one match were not enough to prove their status as hosts - ZZ Top outsmarted Chavo Guerrero into accepting another match against Hornswoggle in a "Sharp Dressed Man" match - how interesting that the match also so happens to be the title to one of their smash hits! Do we see a pattern forming here?

And lets not forget their other hit single, "Legs" featuring the Divas of Monday Night RAW: Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox, Gail Kim, Rosa Mendes, and Santino? The music was all a blair until Santino showed off his legs, in which the music cut - That's when ZZ Top decided to cut out. As a farewell to the whole ZZ Top gimmick - the Divas then contested in a ZZ Top "Legs" tag team match.

And it would not be complete without ZZ Top riding into the arena in, non other than, the red 1933 Ford 3-window coupe hot rod "The Eliminator."

I will go on to say that ZZ Top really had no business hosting Monday Night RAW, just like Seth Green, it's all a gimmick to plug their own projects. At least Seth made matches throughout the night - ZZ Top made two matches and played music the whole time. If it were not for Santino Marella jamming alongside them in a ZZ Top makeover - the whole ZZ Top angle would have been a total flop.

Note: Next Monday's Host will be - Shaquille O'Neal!

Six-Diva Bikini Tag Team Match Slide Show -Thanks Seth Green!

RAW is GREEN!

Seth Green entering the arena to the rockin' sounds of Guns n' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" was priceless.

Seth Green looked like a little kid standing in the ring next to - this month's Muscle Fitness cover - Triple H.

Of course, Green and H plugged the premiere of the new season of Robot Chicken, which The Game voicing himself in a wrestling segment.

A clip was played, however, until Orton entered the arena and mocked Green's size and potential of being a man.

Green felt compelled to make the main event Legacy vs Triple H, John Cena, and himself! Thankfully he chose the two biggest superstars on RAW to team up with, or else the night would have ended with him on a stretcher.

Seth is on RAW to have fun and give the WWE Universe what they want - well... GOOD WORK GREEN!!! A hell of a job for making a six-diva bikini tag team match.

The women looked sexier than ever: Mickie James wearing a brown tribal-like bikini; Maryse a glittering set; Kelly Kelly a barbie pink set with Nikey shoes; Alicia Fox in brown; while Gail Kim and Rosa Mendez wore white.

Rosa's however, was a one piece - possibly to cover her stomach since rumors have gone around that the diva has been told to lose weight, or else be axed like Candice Michelle.

As hoped for, Hornswoggle would not be far from Green. But instead of dressing him as his double, he issued a rematch against Chavo, except this time, he would have his arm tied behind his back.

Green worried about his tag team match, so he called for the assistance of the Big Show for some friendly advice. His advice, Big Show stated, would cost him [pinky to lips] One Million Dollars [evil laugh] - Obviously an Austin Powers reference.

Green's only advice was the chance of someone his size against a pro-wrestler would result in the same way as Evan Bourne against the Big Show - which is not good at all.

Before his match, Green continued to bring the laughs as he freaked out about the match. Triple H assured him, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight" - as Green pulls out his inhaler for 'Clarity Breathing' his team mates politely left Green standing cause there is no chance in hell that he'll survive.

The match proved to be explosive, as Cena pandered to the audience and tagged in pint sized Green to deliver a "devastating" right hook to a confined Rhodes.

Green even broke up Orton's three count on Triple H - leaving the Viper to maliciously kick Green in the torso.

But before Orton could finish him off with a punt to the head - Cena speared Orton and all hell broke loose as chairs and The Game's trusty sledge entered the fray.

In the end, Triple H and John Cena raised Green's hands high in the air and lifted him up in celebration.

In closing - Green brought Sexy Back to Monday Night RAW with that hott diva action, and kept the WWE Universe cracking up the whole time.

Next Monday's Host will be ZZ Top.

Gail Kim: A Korean Threat in the Women's Division

The WWE has a tendency to hire slim attractive models to fight in the Women’s division. Though appealing, there is one minor set back that McMahon fails to mention – they don’t know how to wrestle!

Since the retirement of Trish Stratus, Lita, and Victoria – few actual wrestlers remain. Among those few are Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Melina, and, now, Gail Kim.

A former WWE Women’s Champion in her own right, this Canadian-trained wrestler has what it takes to dominate the WWE Divas’ Division; much like she did in TNA by taking down the behemoth sized Awesome Kong to become the TNA Knock-Out Champion.

Even though Mickie James pinned Rosa Mendes in a Fatal Four-Way to earn an opportunity to face Maryse at Night of Champions, would the results have varied with Gail Kim in the match? Let it be known that Mickie James is a four-time Women’s Champion and has pinned Trish, Beth, Melina, Lita, and Victoria in the past. But on Monday Night, when Mickie teamed up with Gail Kim against Maryse and Alicia Fox; it was Gail Kim who dominated the match by attacking Fox and pinning the Diva’s Champion. As their hands were raised in victory, Mickie James wore an uneasy look in her eyes realizing that Gail Kim may be better, and if that’s the case – would they one day have to face each other with gold on the line?

Suggestion: Since Gail Kim pinned the Champion, it’s only fair to make the Divas’ Title Match a Triple Threat or Triple Threat Elimination to see who the true women’s wrestler is.
