Edge's Injury: Champion's Future?

During a live show in Sacramento, CA, “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge injured his Achilles tendon at the start of his match with Jeff Hardy. After attempting to leapfrog and crumbling to the canvas, the referee called for the bell and Hardy was declared the winner by forfeit.

Edge successfully underwent surgery Tuesday morning under the care of Dr. James Andrews at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Birmingham. Web results, regarding Edge’s injury, have speculated that he will be gone as long as a year to recuperate. If that is the case then the newly formed team of Chris Jericho and Edge will soon disband – possibly leaving Jericho to find a new tag team partner to share the Unified Tag Team Titles.

Suggestions for new partner:

Christian: Even though he is a face on ECW, he’s been feuding with Tommy Dreamer and seems easily able to turn heel. Plus, it’s not like they haven’t teamed up before.

CM Punk: Both Punk and Jericho share similarities, one believes he is the greatest wrestler in the world today, and the other has a sense of pride for the lifestyle he leads. Together they can parade around the WWE claiming to be better than everyone else.

Kane: Both have feuded with Rey Mysterio in attempts to unmask the highflying luchador.

Dolph Ziggler: Despite his gimmick, Ziggler is undoubtedly gifted as a wrestler. However, his mindless feud with The Great Khali is slowing down his career. Dolph has a lot to learn about the business before becoming a top heel, and teaming with Jericho would not only give him the experience needed but boost his career.

Another possibility of what could happen to the titles – Jericho will be forced to defend the titles in a 2 on 1 handicapped match against Legacy at Night of Champions. With Edge absent from the WWE he may take the time to write a sequel to his book – Adam Copeland on Edge. Despite what occurs to the Unified Tag Team Titles, all of the WWE Universe wishes Edge a speedy recovery.

A Million Dollar Investment in Ted DiBiase Jr.

The Legacy team have provided numerous distractions and interferences to ensure that Randy Orton remains WWE Champion, yet, how has Orton repaid them?

After Legacy lost the Unified Tag Team Title match at The Bash, due to Teddy Long adding the newly formed team of Chris Jericho and Edge, Ted DiBiase Jr. questioned Orton's lack of support in their title pursuits.

On Monday Night RAW, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, the special guest General Manager, provided Legacy with career-defining matches: Cody Rhodes against “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry; and his son, Ted DiBiase Jr., against WWE Champion Randy Orton.

Cody Rhodes requested that DiBiase change the match; but instead, Cody received an earful from the diabolic "Million Dollar Man." “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Cody’s father, is still considered DiBiase's leading archrival since 1990. The match was left unchanged, resulting in Cody Rhodes counting himself out.

Ted DiBiase is the Million Dollar Man because he has always been a smart investor, from the Million Dollar Belt, to the Ring Master, Steve Austin, so naturally he would invest in his son's future. The opportunity to face Randy Orton in a non-title match would further prove DiBiase's claims of his son destined to become WWE Champion.

The DiBiase-Orton match was truly impressive, as DiBiase Jr. fared well against the veteran Orton. Remarkably, DiBiase Jr. almost won the match with a backslide pin, but Orton kicked out. Then DiBiase Jr. desparately tried to connect with Dream Street but was struck with the RKO. After struggling to win a hard fought match, has Orton found new respect in his protégé, or will Legacy suffer an "unexpected" loss in their Night of Champions's title match?

DiBiase Jr. took out his loss on his father, viciously slapped him across the face and warned him to stay out of his life. Yet that didn't stop DiBiase from making a monumantal announcment, as a result of Legacy's interference in the #1 contender's main-event, Orton will face both Triple-H and John Cena, in a WrestleMania XXIV rematch, at Night of Champions for the coveted WWE Title.

John Morrison: The Rise of the Shaman!

Jeff Hardy may have a rock star-like ovation, but no one looks more like a rock star than “The Guru of Greatness” John Morrison.

Once known as Johnny Nitro – fetching coffee for Mr. McMahon – Morrison is now one of the hottest superstars in the WWE.

His rise to greatness started in the summer of 2007, when Morrison defeated CM Punk, one-on-one, for the vacant ECW Title.

As the ECW Champion, Morrison dropped his paparazzi theme for something more fitting for a Shaman, because it “Ain’t No Make Believe.” Which, due to the double negatives it therefore is make believe?

According to his interview with WWE Magazine, his slow motion entrances, John Morrison feels, is a suspension in time and space so that normal people can grasp the boundaries that a Shaman can go.

Also a master tag team specialist, teamed with The Miz to become a two-time Slammy Award winning, two-time Dirty Award winning, longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in recent history, and also capturing the World Tag Team Championships – The Miz and John Morrison, with such

prestigious accolades, were the dominate tag team force since the days of Edge and Christian.

However, the two parted ways as a result of the draft. The Miz went to RAW, while Morrison would make his new home on Friday Nights. Morrison states that he is beyond good and evil, and after his face change that statement couldn’t be truer.

The Guru has recently been on a winning streak, defeating the likes of Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Umaga, and, as seen on Smackdown, the World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. He even came close to defeating Edge in possibly one of the greatest matches in Smackdown history.

With Morrison pinning the World Heavyweight Champion, he is entitled to challenge CM Punk for a title match. Morrison has even asked GM Teddy Long’s permission to face the winner of the Jeff Hardy-CM Punk title match. Even though Long gave no definitive answer, as the Shaman of the Palace of Wisdom – it is time for John Morrison to immortalize himself as a future WWE Hall of Famer by finally becoming the World Heavyweight Champion.

Triple H and John Cena: The Most Over-Powered Confrontation

On Monday Night RAW, after Batista issued a tournament to determine the #1 contender for Orton's WWE Championship, the night witnessed a revival of a timeless confrontation.

The first semi-final contested "Montel Vontavious Porter" MVP against "The Game" Triple H. After the brutal effects of the 3 Stages of Hell, MVP focused his attacks on the Cerebral Assassin's left leg. Thus, MVP, determined to further his career, applied the Figure-Four Leg lock to administer sharp blinding pain to the injured leg - in hopes for a submission victory. Despite a sound strategy, The King of Kings overpowered The King of Bling with a pedigree and advanced to the finals.

The second semi-final was a rematch between The Miz and John Cena. At last year's SummerSlam - John Cena suffered a herniated disk in his neck from the impact of Batista's mid-air Spinebuster. The Miz, knowing full well the extend of Cena's injuries, countered Cena's top turnbuckle Attitude Adjustment into a electric chair drop - a move that could have easily re-injured his disk. But much like The Bash, Cena overpowered Miz into the Attitude Adjustment followed by a charismatic STF to have the brash mouth superstar tap out.

With both John Cena and Triple H advancing to the final round - both will have to find out who is the better man.

The first time these two fought was at Wrestlmania 22, when Triple H challenged Cena for the WWE Championship and ended up submitting to the STF.

Yet, last year's Night of Champions John Cena attempted to bring the WWE Champion over to RAW since Triple H had been drafted to Smackdown, but after an intense match of kicking out of the other's finishers, Triple H proved to be the better man.

CM Punk's Out on WWE Superstars

The rules of Money in the Bank are simple: the briefcase can be cashed in at any given time, up to one year, towards the World Title of the holder's choosing.

At New Year's Revolution, Edge cashed in and won his first WWE Championship against John Cena, who had just survived and retained his title in an Elimination Chamber match. By the rules of the MitB contract, John Cena was forced to defend his title.

Edge revolutionized the concept of capitalizing on opportune moments and would do it again on a historic night in Pittsburgh - against the Undertaker - to become World Heavyweight Champion. There's a saying, "What goes around, comes around" that reigned true on June 30, 2008 when CM Punk would cash in his MitB briefcase against Edge to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. However, greed exuded Punk when he decided to cash in against Jeff Hardy, the new World Heavyweight Champion, who did not hold it long enough to strap the title around his waist.

Punk has, since then, shown signs of a heel change. On the June 26th edition of Smackdown, CM Punk had a classic match against "The Guru of Greatness" John Morrison. The match saw many evasive maneuvers and extraordinary counters as The Shaman of Sexy attempted a Running Knee Strike to a seated Punk, but The Straight Edge superstar found a way to counter into a one-legged Boston Crab. As Morrison reached for the ropes to break the hold, CM Punk waited until the very last second to break the hold - a tactic practiced usually by heels. If that were not enough to prove his turn, after losing his match to John Morrison, Punk offered a congratulatory hand only to execute the GTS.

At The Bash, after being hit with the Twist of Fate and the Swanton Bomb, Punk escaped the three count by having his foot underneath the ropes - this is not a heel maneuver, but just knowing your surroundings. However, Punk favored and winced in pain over his left eye. His vision was obviously blurred and accidentally kicked the referee, thus ending the match.

But was Punk in pain or did he fear losing his title?

Another wrestler acted on a fake injury only to win a match - his name was Shawn Michaels. Backlash 2008, Michaels claimed that his leg was injured only to strike Batista out with the Super Kick and win the match. Michaels went on for weeks limping on his leg having everyone believe that his injury was legit. CM Punk, at a very disappointing conclusion to WWE Superstars, forfeited his match against Unified Tag Team Champion Edge, in a one on one match, because of his eye. In all the years of wrestling there has never been a superstar to forfeit a competition mid-match. Of course, there have been superstars forced to forfeit before a match due to much-needed surgery, but never over an eye. Not even when Shawn Michaels injured his eye after Chris Jericho smashed his face into the JeriTron 6000, did he ever forfeit a match. CM Punk fears losing his title and realizes once again that he does not have the stamina or the fortitude to contend against the competition in the World Heavyweight division.

Punk was seconds away to losing his title match against Jeff Hardy, his match against Edge, and lost his match against John Morrison. And with the crowds turning against him, Punk is becoming more desperate to gain pity from his fans and will continue to hold his eye in pain if he comes close to losing a match again.

Donald Trump's Trade Make or Break ECW?

ECW kicked off with an announcement from the vivacious General Manager, Tiffany stating that ECW has lost a lot of great talent but has also gained some. The reality is that the trade has severely crippled ECW. Three of the five competitors from Sunday’s Scramble Match have now found homes on RAW and Smackdown.

Evan Bourne, no doubt the most exciting commodity, has also left the Land of Extreme to thrive on Monday Nights – as seen during the Gauntlet match, Evan almost pinned the WWE Champion.

The Hart Dynasty, possibly the most exciting union since The Miz and John Morrison, has left for Smackdown – in hopes to dominate Friday Nights and one day obtain both the Unified Tag Team and Women’s Titles. It is no secret that ECW is always cheated out of their top tier superstars, mainly to RAW who tend to capitalize on ECW’s hard work.

After losing seven superstars, what is next for ECW?

Tiffany, learning much from the previous GM, has reinstated the Superstar Initiative – a program that brings in fresh talent over from FCW, training grounds, over to the WWE.

The first of the new superstars was Yoshi Tatsu, a Japanese wrestler, facing off against “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin, re-debuting on ECW. Not much is known about Tatsu’s wrestling technique, except for an enzuigiri that knocked the Gold Standard out cold – giving him his first victory on ECW.

ECW has also acquired a new talk show, hosted by Abraham Washington. Gimmicked as having the gift of gab, Washington is actually an instigator – badmouthing superstars and causing problems - as his guests, the Bella Twins, were about to pull hairs until they discretely left.

With the departure of one Irish Brawler, ECW has introduced the arrival of another Celtic Warrior by the name of Sheamus. During his match with a local jobber, Sheamus was instantly portrayed as a heel, driving his knee into his opponent's back for the 1-2-3 victory.

In the weeks ahead, how will the superstars from the initiative fare along with the superstars from the trade? And with three threats gone, will Dreamer have a long title reign, or has new threats emerged?
