Since coming back, Batista has switched brands, pinned Orton and Jericho, and issued a challenge.
Big Show made big on his challenge, to face Batista in a one-on-one match, but who really needed the help?
Big Show, as always, is impressive with his sheer size and quickness in the ring, but Batista is muscle bound to win most matches so it was not a wonder why these two were evenly matched.
The only note-worthy thing about this match was Batista’s Ankle Lock on Big Show – shades of Kurt Angle’s Angle Lock on Big Show at Royal Rumble 2004.
Instead of suffering any more pain and tapping out, Chris Jericho interfered in the match and paid the price with an Ankle Lock.
Now Big Show has defeated Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and Big Show… so what’s next? A Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match for the World Heavyweight Title, right????
Well… no.
It appears that WWE has other plans for Batista, and in a big way. He has challenged the Unified Tag Team Champions to a title match at Hell in a Cell – and his tag team partner is none other than Rey Mysterio.
Now, Rey Mysterio is suspended and by the time Hell in a Cell comes around his time will still not be up. What’s the deal WWE?
Seeing as Rey did put on one hell of a match with John Morrison in his “dropping the title” match, it figures that WWE are going easy on Mysterio. Plus, the man does sell a lot of masks.
So it looks as if the World Heavyweight Title will focus mainly on Punk vs. Taker and the Intercontinental Title will focus on Morrison vs. Ziggler. It’s a great way to build up Punk, Morrison, and Ziggler.
In other Smackdown news: The Hart Dynasty defeated Cryme Tyme in tag team action. Looks like Cryme Tyme was built up for SummerSlam and now quickly forgotten.
Kane destroyed Slam Master J. And the team of John Morrison and Finlay defeated Dolph Ziggler and Mike Knox.
Now, for a seemingly pointless return… Drew McIntyre has returned from his hiatus from WWE TV and countless years in FCW to pick a fight with R-Truth?
These two were supposed to have a match for weeks and they have never made it to the start of the bell.
Even last week, McIntyre did away with R-Truth automatically making Charlie Haas the winner via forfeit. And just as Haas went to shake McIntyre’s hand – he strikes with a Double Underhook DDT.
Now, Charlie Haas is a heel, is McIntyre being built as a Super Heel? Probably so.
This week, Mr. McMahon welcomed Drew McIntyre to the Smackdown brand, making him the first Scotsman since the Highlanders.
Before he could finish his Supremacy over the Smackdown brand speech, R-Truth finally got the element of surprise and attacked McIntyre in the ring.
Now, are we going to actually see a match between these two? Understandable that WWE is trying to build these two, but if they have a match and it’s not exactly up to par, then this would have been pointless.
I think they should tweak McIntyre’s image and make him the next Braveheart. However, that would require him to turn face and to shell out some cash to Mel Gibson. But, I’m just sayin’!
