RKO Shatters The American Dream

He is the common man, he is the working man, he IS the American Dream. Dusty Rhodes entered the city of Detroit Michigan, the city where he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, looking to shake things up.

Its a Monday Night, start of the week, every one's tired. Who's tired? The common man. And being a commoner himself, Rhodes put all of RAW's titles on the line so that the common man can feel like the rich man.

Much like "The Million Dollar Man," Dusty Rhodes wanted to see his son succeed so he issued Cody Rhodes a WWE Championship match against Randy Orton.

However, unlike Ted DiBiase Jr., Cody Rhodes jumped at the opportunity to become the youngest WWE Champion in history.

The American Dream also added - Not only will Cody face Orton in a title match, but that he would be in his son's corner, and that John Cena as the Special Guest Referee.

Rhodes did not appear until later when he was reviewing the contents of The Rise and Fall of WCW 3-DVD Disc Set available at WWEShop.com... Then D-Generation X made their appearance shamelessly plugging-in the New and Improved DX DVD set... while Dusty plugged in his "The American Dream" DVD set.... Honestly, I love wrestling DVDs and I go on WWEShop.com at least 3-times a week to check out all the sweet (and not so sweet) merchandise, but really? Must we be reminded to purchase DVDs and DX gear?

One interesting thing did pop up during the segment. If Cody wins tonight and becomes the WWE Champion, he would give DX a shot at the title. Triple H, thinking the opportunity is meant for him, Michaels interjected - why you, why not me? Triple H, as we all know, has been given MORE THAN ENOUGH title matches. And just like Michaels mentioned - Why not give HBK some title matches? HBK's last title match was against Chris Jericho in a Ladder Match - No Mercy 2008, I think it's time.

The Main Event Match was cut short... only because the WWE Universe was cheated out of the WWE Title match and instead witnessed an ambush!

As Rhodes mentioned earlier, he would do anything for his son... sorry John.

The title match was a set-up and Orton and Cody attacked Cena. DX arrived to even out the playing field, but the son of "The Million Dollar Man," Ted DiBiase helped out his comrades.

In 2 weeks, at The Breaking Point ppv, Randy Orton will have to defend his WWE Title against John Cena in an "I Quit" Match - where the winner is the one that forces his opponent to utter the words "I Quit." What better than to weaken your opponent before the big match?

Unlike last week, where the Pedigree, Super kick, and Attitude Adjustment were all executed - this week it was CrossRhodes, Dream Street, and the RKO that left their mark.

The Dream even attacked Triple H with the heel of his boot - doing anything he can to see his son succeed. But as all their hands were raised and Rhodes had a loving moment with his son - The Viper struck and attacked The Dream.

As Cody looked on, he couldn't bring himself to attack his mentor because he knows the consequences when you cross Randy Orton.
